  • What We Think About Returning to Face-to-Face Training

As restrictions begin to ease, what’s the best way for you to return to face-to-face training?

Should you stop doing online stuff? Should you do a bit of both? Will your clients even want to come back?

That, and more, is what we cover in today’s episode of The Trainers Tribe.

    • 0:55 – Listener Question: What is going to be clients biggest barriers to returning to face-to-face training? What can we do to alleviate this and motivate clients from a heart-centered place?
    • 4:50 – Dale talks about the opportunity here.
    • 7:15 – Keep your clients updated (daily at the moment)
    • 11:30 – The power of personal check-ins
    • 17:15 – Use this Personalised Check-In Message Template
    • 20:30 – Why bookings are essential! Get members to commit.
    • 32:30 – Is it worth running extra sessions (because gathering sizes are limited)?

  • Don’t Make the Mistake of Asking the Wrong Questions

Did you know the questions you ask yourself can have more impact on your success than knowing the right answers?

For example: Spending a week asking yourself whether your sessions should be at 6:00 or 6:30 will leave you feeling worn out without much to show for it. If you spent that same week instead asking yourself what you'd like to help your clients achieve in 5 years, you'd end up with a much better idea of where you are going.

In this episode Dale and I (Kyle) talk about the difference between high quality and low quality questions. I share some stories about getting stuck on low-level questions and what I did to move forward and Dale shares 6 amazing high quality questions he asks himself each day.

We then finish off the pod by answering a bunch of common questions so that you don't have to spend lots of time thinking about them:

    • How long is the best session? 45 minutes or 60 minutes or another time? (thanks Peter from Wales) [skip to 14:40]
    • What is the best course to do for trainers? (Or place to get qualified as a trainer?) [skip to 18:20]
    • What is a good system/software for tracking my clients? [skip to 21:00]
    • Should I offer a free trial? [skip to 22:50]
    • After this is all over, what is a good way to set up a hybrid offering for my sessions (virtual sessions and face to face)? [skip to 26:30]
    • What is a good formula for a 12-week challenge? [skip to 29:45]
    • How do I get noticed? [skip to 34:05]
    • How can I help clients with their nutrition? [skip to 36:55]

Got a question for us? Ask away.

    • 4:30 – Asking questions as a way to avoid doing what you need to do (instead of taking action)
    • 7:00 – Start your day with good questions
    • 11:00 – What can you do when you get stuck on a question?

  • What Does Being Successful Mean To You?

Is being successful really about adding new clients to your business every week? When is enough clients... enough?

Today’s episode is inspired by a question from a listener, Donna from New York (if you have a question for us you can ask it here).

    She wrote:

I would love to know your thoughts on the statements "grow or die" and "maintenance is a myth". Two statements that have been haunting me a little the last few months and how this topic came about. In my particular situation of the pandemic and being in a hot spot, I am happy to be able to stay afloat with my modest community of around 50. Is that just a way to let myself off the hook for not growing?

This question lead Dale and Kyle on a 30 minute conversation about success, poor marketing techniques, B.S. and comparing yourselves to others.

    Links and timestamps are below.

    • 0:45 – Quick update on how some state’s are letting face to face group fitness sessions resume
    • 4:00 – Are the terms ‘grow or die’ and ‘maintenance is a myth’ true? Do I really have to keep growing my business?
    • 7:45 – False dichotomies and bad marketing
    • 10:15 – Investing in new clients versus your existing clients
    • 13:30 – Defining your own version of success
    • 16:50 – Being present with what you DO have
    • 19:30 – The endless treadmill of comparison
    • 24:00 – More on defining your own version of success
    • 28:45 – Right Here, Right Now
