The dangers of hierarchy and centralization of power in the church seems to produce corruption, lack of accountability, demagoguery, abuse, and all the rest. The Protestant Church and the Roman Catholic Church are in all out crisis mode now. The image of the Roman Catholic Church is befouled and apparently unsalvageable now. What can be done? A return to decentralized elderships and a rejection of the single pastor man-of-God motif is where the true church is headed.
