Guest Bio:
Mandy Scheller (@ownitaccounting) is a CPA with a Master’s degree in accounting… and it STILL took her many years of experience and experimentation to figure out how all this money stuff works.
Let’s face it: many of us learned practically nothing about money or entrepreneurship in school. If you don’t want to learn from trial and error, you’ll need to draw on the experience of others.
Mandy comes from a rural, blue-collar background. In fact, just 10 years ago, she was a broke freelance graphic designer trying to run her own business while working two dead-end jobs. She decided she needed a financial education, so she went back to school to become a CPA. Thankfully, things have turned around, and her and her husband are on an active path to leaving a legacy for our two daughters.
For the last 7 years, she has worked in corporate and public accounting, and realized that many small business owners can’t afford to get the business and tax advice that they really need in a one-on-one setting. The secret is – you don’t need a fancy degree to become financially literate. You DON’T want to be at the mercy of someone else’s professional judgment, especially if they are charging you by the hour.
