With our new found love for All Elite Wrestling, we have been buying shirts. For instance, Brandi has bought shirts for Sammy Guevara and the Jurassic Express. Meanwhile, Dave has bought shirts for Allie and Death Triangle. Also, we talk about the nerds that work for AEW.

Additionally, Brandi goes off on Davis County for its soft reopening during this crisis. We point out how few people learn from history. For instance, San Francisco opened to early during the flu of 1918.

The Dark Track

Our favorite pop punk band, The Dollyrots, perform their cover of Happy Together. The Floridian band delivers catchy tunes with a tongue in cheek attitude.

Quarantine House

Mainly, Brandi and Dave choose three characters each from a list of categories. That is, from animation, books, movies and so on. However, they must select two good characters and one bad to potentially populate the quarantine house. Meanwhile, we discuss each choice and the reason for it. Finally, we us a six-sided die to determine the results.

A Sad Time for Rivetheads

Sadly, the industrial rock community lost a couple of its luminary members. First, founder of industrial rock, Genesis P-Orridge, died at 70 of leukemia. Also, we recently lost to cancer drummer, Bill Rieflin.

Reviews

First, Dave reviews the animated film, Onward. This Disney film pits a Dungeons & Dragons quest against a world with modern technology. Furthermore, Dave respects the racial issues addressed in HBO’s Watchmen. Finally, Dave shares his thoughts about Picard. Mostly, he compares the story arc to similar stories going back to Frankenstein.

In this bonus episode, The Dark Corner Podcast presents a quarantine playlist. That is, DJ Evil Dave compiles ten select tracks. Meanwhile, each track reflects some aspect of the coronavirus, COVID-19. That is, Dave chooses tracks according to their content and tone.

Down with the Sickness

First, Dave admits that he has contracted the virus. Afterward, he lists each symptom in turn. For instance, he describes fever, aches, and shortness of breath. Following, from Halotan Records Sampler 03, we present Solitude (Halotan Version) by Black Canvas. Afterward, Damsel in the Dollhouse offers Fever Dream from Provocateur. Damsel in the Dollhouse calls Montana home. Also, Sturmreaktor plays Human Disease from the Fallout EP. The Fallout video game inspired the title track of this EP.

Forming the linchpin of the playlist, Mundtot performs Virus Mensch from the Endzeit EP. Following, A.E.C. offers Pain from the Sex.Drugs.Sequence. DJ Promo. Additionally, So Sick features as a song by 1919 from the Revenge EP. 1919 plays a raucous style of post punk.

Mainly, we talk about what is perhaps the oldest, complete martial art in the world. First, what is a complete martial art? This 4,000 year old style of unarmed combat contains all fighting applications. Pankration means all powers. That is, it offers striking techniques as in boxing. It features kicks such as the forward thrusting heel kick to the belly. Also, it features holds and throws similar to judo and Greco-Roman wrestling. Additionally, choking presents another mode of attack.

Beyond just the techniques, Dave explores training methods and strategy. He talks about the culture, art and history surrounding this ancient martial art. Moreover, he explains its similarities to modern mixed martial arts. Also, he suggests viewing material. for example, he mentions an episode of Human Weapon and video of Wolf Hawkfield from Virtua Fighter.

Mainly, her discussion focuses on Star Trek. For instance, she speaks of the family tradition of watching the original series. Also, Wrath of Khan holds the position as the first Star Trek movie thee saw in theaters. Additionally, she mentions introducing me to Star Trek and our current enjoyment of Discovery. Furthermore, she speculates on what Picard may include.

However, Brandi enjoys other franchises as well. For instance, she loves Star Wars. Yet, Darth Vader scared her. As such, Brandi tells the story of how her father scared her by impersonating Vader’s voice. She ran from the movie theater. Her older sister dressing as Vader for Halloween only exacerbates this childhood trauma.

Fallout 4

While speculating on Picard, Brandi brings up the synths in Fallout 4. As such, she goes off on a tangent in talking about video games and post apocalyptic fiction. She admits how these tangents may happen often.
