The Dave Weekly

Ben ‘Mr Korma’ Shires lives the Leicester dream as he judges The Comedy Curry Cook Off – a competition between Rob Rouse and Shirley and Shirley as to who can cook the best curry. MC Tommy Holgate spices things up by eating some chilli sauce that’s WAY TOO HOT for any human being. Fool.

Josh Widdicombe joins us in a cafe to talk about saving lives and winning awards whilst Rosie Wilby makes Ben's palms sweaty talking about the Science of Sex and minor pop stardom.

Ray Peacock comes in to judge Ben Shires for allowing a man to get his face tattooed on his leg. He does not approve. We also chat to some Danish comics from Zulu Comedy about things that are stereotypically Danish. Bacon mainly.

Award winning comedian Nathan Caton joins us to discuss his funny family and his love of ‘your mum’ jokes whilst we head to hotel room of the wonderful and charming Tom Allen for a chat about Hotel d’comedie and the demise of beady doors.

Today’s glorious episode sees Tom Deacon and Ben Shires locking horns to disgust each other in equal measure in a hotel room in Leicester PLUS we chat to comedian Toby Williams aka. Dr George Ryegold in, of all places, a curry house.

We caught up with Nick Helm in a lovely London café to chat comedy, winning awards and playing Dave’s Curry House in Leicester. Ben also spends a whole evening in the Curry House judging the Dave Turns the Tables gig where five nervous journalists attempt stand-up for the first time. Could they hack it?

Hackney New Act of the Year winners Abandoman join us in snowy Leicester to talk Irish hip-hop and Ed Sheran whilst rapping away in a tiny room surrounded by pigeon holes and Robinson’s Fruit Shoots. It is well gangsta. Equally gangsta is our interview with Geoff Rowe, Director of Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival who, bless him, is tired. Man up Geoffrey.

The horniest man in comedy Alex Horne joins our very own horn-bag Ben Shires for podcast fun that discusses sitting the wrong way on the toilet, raising your children as an experiment and the nature of friendship. We also travel to Manchester (sitting in a train corridor btw) to hand The Frog and Bucket comedy club the Dave One Night Stand award for best comedy night in association with Absolute Radio.

We’re back! Back to where we once belong - between 15 and 30 in the iTunes comedy charts and to kick things off in this special Leicester themed series we thought we’d stay in London and check out the preview show for Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival where we stalked out the dressing room and managed to convince grumpy old git Arthur Smith to have a chat to us. We also caught up with mythical giant Luke Benson, Philip Schofield-loving Vikki Stone and Quiz Eubank himself, Paul Sinha. YEAH-BOI!

Yes, it’s the best bits from Series 1 we simply couldn’t squeeze in first time around featuring presenter Ben getting stung by a bee-related myth about Chris Addison, Jason Byrne on the joy (lessness) of being a father and Greg Davies braving one of Ben’s infamous quizzes. Plus much more besides from Peacock & Gamble, Paul Foot, Russell Kane, Tim Vine and Angelos Epithemiou.
