Week Two of the Good Brothers' latest month of Superman: The Animated Series reviews is here and it's bound to be a memorable one as they review the infamous episode "Superman's Pal." The hosts have a ton of fun talking about how historically bad this episode is and they do not pull any punches. From a plot that feels like a waste of Metallo's final appearance of the series, to visuals that give the notoriously bad Cat Scratch Fever and Unity a run for their money. While music is the most consistent part of the episode, Cal and Liam share their thoughts on a few inconsistent performances in the voice acting which all leads to a few historically bad scores. The Good Brothers are back in the sunny skies of Metropolis, but this week's review of "Solar Power" and the return of the villainous Luminous may have them seeing red! Hear their thoughts on a episode they admit to seeing almost more than any other episode of Superman: The Animated Series including a plot that travels a familiar revenge plot, with a few magical, non-descript pieces of technology that give the villain the upperhand and causes Superman to experience even more humanity than he's used to, art style that comes from a director of a few other of the hosts favorite episodes, and musical cues that strengthen the intensity of the fight scenes. Additionally Cal and Liam discuss the voice cast featuring the voice of the original Iron Man, classic homages to the 1940s Superman Radio intro and just whether or not Lex Luthor was behind the entire plot of the episode. It's the fifth Saturday of the month and you know what that means, it's time for a trip around the Multiverse and the Good Brothers find themselves smackdab in the middle of Young Justice Season One with a review of "Coldhearted." Despite this being a "seasonally appropriate" episode featuring snow and ice as many living in the northern hemisphere can attest, there is plenty of inappropriate behavior from Kid Flash as the hosts discovered upon their viewing. Furthermore the hosts do their best to find silver linings through the episode and do in visuals but struggle in both the voice acting and overall plot. Hear their thoughts on a soundtrack from the Dynamic Music Partners and this universe's take on Vandal Savage, in addition to a preview of next month's exciting coverage! The Good Brothers are kicking off their 2022 reviews by returning back to the future and picking up where they left off in the Batman Beyond watch order with the episode "April Moon." While the episode may not have a lot to remember when it comes to nostalgia for the hosts, they sure have a lot to say about the plot after this watch. Listen as they struggle to figure out where certain aspects of the story go, who the heroes are and why the main plot point centers around a bowl of cereal. With some fun visuals, Cal and Liam talk about the choice to equip one character with "buzzsaw knees" and whether one character's look is based off of the title character from the 90's sitcom Becker. Music also leads to a long discussion around the choice to use more traditional instruments in lieu of the rock drums, guitars and synth that usually contributes to the soundtrack. Rounding it out a few surprise voice cast members from well-known sitcoms and the return of another voice actor that played a memorable character in Batman: The Animated Series. Happy New Year from the Good Brothers of the DCAU Review!
