Relive the magic of Degrassi Music Trivia Night hosted in December 2024! 🎵
We celebrated the release of Stephen's new album "The Orange Sessions" by GTA Rhythm Section with a TikTok Live stream!
Stephen Stohn (Executive Producer) describes the music on his new album as a dreamy, love song about his wife, Linda Schuyler, that resembles a Lizzo type feel. I can't wait to hear it. He also tells us the one thing he'd change about Degrassi, a lost script featuring Spinner/Emma's baby and what he's up to now.

609 - Why does it feel so good to see yourself on TV?
Three Degrassi fans stop by The Degrassi Kid Podcast to discuss representation, identity and the power of seeing yourself on TV.
Falen, an award-winning Indigneous playwright, grew up in the re-run era of Degrassi Junior High. In this interview, she shares why representation on TV can resonate with marginalized communities.
Stacey highlights media that's getting Indigenous representation right. She tells us why that representation has made such a personal impact.
Stevi shares what it was like to grow up without realizing they were Indigenous, how a racist joke led to them discovering their identity and what it was like growing up with a white-passing sibling who had a much different experience than them.

Degrassi Fan Checklist:
608 - Why doesn't Degrassi tell stories about Indigenous kids?
Degrassi has a long tradition of telling stories about white people, drawing from our voices, our faces, and our struggles to bring real issues to TV. But where are the stories about Indigenous kids? Why don’t we see their lives, their challenges, and their triumphs reflected on screen?
In this episode, we’re unpacking Canada’s history with Indigenous storytelling and exploring why Degrassi might not have gotten it right. We’ll dive deep, looking at who’s behind the storytelling and asking tough questions about representation.
Content Warning: This episode contains discussions about violence, racism, sexism, and other traumatic topics, including the heartbreaking realities of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) in Canada.
Here’s a look at what’s coming up:
Who in the Degrassi cast identifies as Indigenous, and how can we tell their characters are too?
What has Degrassi’s approach to Indigenous representation looked like over the years?
Why was Nakuset Gould, who portrayed Grace, deemed “too controversial” to on social media?
I’ll share personal insights into how Canadian schools taught me (as a white student) about Indigenous issues—or, more importantly, what they left out.
Plus, we’ll discuss present-day examples of racism that Indigenous people continue to face in Canada.
We’ll also explore the ongoing online conversations among Degrassi fans about the lack of Indigenous storytelling in the series. And in Part Two, you’ll hear directly from Indigenous fans who are sharing their stories, their voices, and their perspectives on what true representation should look like.

607 - What happened to Jason Cox?
Tyson Talbot began his career on Degrassi in 1983. He played one of the original characters, Billy Martin, on The Kids of Degrassi Street appearing in episodes like Billy Breaks The Chain, Benjamin Walks The Dog and Rachel Runs for Office.
Later, he joined the new kids on Degrassi Junior High where he played the sexist Sports Rep Jason Cox. The one who thinks boys are better than girls at everything. Boy, was he wrong.
But then, Jason disappeared and his character was never seen again. What happened to Jason? Why did Tyson leave the show? And what happened that caused him to reunite with the Degrassi cast over 30 years later?
