Super Bowl Sunday was not joyous for me. My beloved 49ers should have been playing but alas it was the scumbag Rams who not only played but won the Super Bowl. Unfortunately for all football fans it was the referees who took center stage in this game with several terrible calls that decided the game. Rams high profile players stepped up when they had to, and a championship was delivered to the city of Angels. 

I'm still down in the dumps about my beloved 49ers not playing in the Super Bowl but decided to do a small preview of the game anyway. I hope the Bengals win, but they probably won't, and those scumbag Rams will take home the Lombardi trophy much to my chagrin. In other news today was the NBA trade deadline. The big news of the day was the blockbuster deal between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets that exchanges perennial All Stars James Harden and Ben Simmons for each other. The other big news was the pathetic Los Angeles Lakers not doing anything because they had nothing to offer. A disappointing season for the Lakers just gets worse by the day.

Sometimes I don't want to be right. I wanted Jimmy Garoppolo to be a great QB, he just isn't. I always had the sneaky feeling that he was going to be the one to ruin everything with his disappointing and inept play and that came to fruition in the NFC championship game. The San Francisco 49ers blew a 10-point lead to lose 20-17 to their hated division rivals, the LA Rams with an opportunity to play in the Super Bowl at stake. The time is now to move on from Garoppolo for the 49ers. 

For the 3rd time this season the San Francisco 49ers matchup with their division rival the Los Angeles Rams. This time its for the NFC Championship and the right to play in Super Bowl 56. All the pressure is on the "home" team the LA Rams and their star studded team to reach the Super Bowl in their home stadium. In a game of matchups the Rams don't match up well with the 49ers, but the 49ers QB, Jimmy Garoppolo could potentially unravel all of the 49ers plans with his erratic play. 

Despite the travel, the weather, being on the road, vs a #1 seed, and the offensive futility, the resilient San Francisco 49ers advance in the NFC playoffs! A heroic effort by the 49er defense and a clutch performance by the 49er special teams carried the day! Throw Rogan might win league MVP but he was held to 10 points and completely shut down by the mighty 49er defense. Onward and upward to the NFC Championship game for the worlds most dangerous football team! 

Despite the best efforts of their own starting QB openly sabotaging the game the San Francisco 49ers emerged victorious over the Dallas Cowboys and are moving on in the NFC playoffs! Another outstanding performance from 2021 League MVP Deebo Samuel and a fantastic job by defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans was enough to overcome a disastrous performance from Jimmy Garoppolo. 

The 49ers vs the Rams wasn't a football game, it was a movie. No Hollywood script writer could manufacture the real life drama of this football game. With their backs against the wall and season on the brink of disaster the San Francisco 49ers showed guts and resiliency in overcoming a 17 point deficit to beat their division rivals for a 6th consecutive time. Jimmy Garoppolo was a complete disaster for much the game but pulled it together when it mattered most, and along with Deebo Samuel, and a ferocious pass rush, helped the 49ers secure a win, and a playoff berth, in compelling fashion.

There was a lot to like about Trey Lances 2nd career NFL start. Got off to rocky start but rebounded nicely and progressed throughout the game. Thrust into action after the perpetually disappointing Jimmy Garoppolo was out with a thumb injury the young Lance led the 49ers to a 23-7 victory, posting a stat line of 16-23, 249 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, and a QB rating of 116. 49er fans have a lot to be excited about with the first year signal caller from NDSU. 

So much in the world of football to talk about. Forty Niners with a big win over the Cincinnati Bengals that moves them to 7-6 and the 6th seed in the NFC. Chiefs outlast the Chargers in a Thursday night thriller. Urban Meyer lasted 13 games in the NFL before being fired on Wednesday night. His tumultuous tenure included a litany of the off the field issues in addition to the on field ineptitude. Travis Hunter pisses off white people committing to Deion Sanders and Jackson St. as opposed to Florida St. And the passing of legendary Denver Broncos WR Demariyus Thomas. 

College football regular season has concluded and theres a lot to talk about. Bryce Young is your 2021 Heisman Trophy winner and will lead his team, the Alabama Crimson Tide into the College Football Playoff against Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl. The other CFP semifinal matchup pits the 2nd seed Michigan Wolverines vs the 3rd seed Georgia Bulldogs in the Orange Bowl. Bryan Kelly has moved on from Notre Dame and take the head coaching job at LSU and Lincoln Riley went from Oklahoma to USC in a moves that sent shockwaves through college football.
