  • 064 - THEMXXNLIGHT [R&B]
THEMXXNLIGHT is a unique out-of-this-world R&B duo from The Bay Area, California. The identical twins, both being the vocalists, seamlessly weave their melodious, ethnic vibrations in to their exotic masterpieces. The duo has garnered a huge following on SoundCloud & Spotify before they caught the attention of Taylor Gang and got together on 3 tracks with Wiz Khalifa on his latest album, Rolling Papers 2. The 3 tracks that they featured on have garnered millions of streams since it’s release on July 13th and since then, their Spotify has surpassed 1 million monthly listeners. Their first inspiration to create music actually came from The Weeknd. The twins heard The Weeknd’s first ever mixtape titled “House of Balloons” and were immediately inspired by his airy vocals. They sang the songs around school and after gaining local attention for their covers of The Weeknd, they started THEMXXNLIGHT together and are now revolutionizing R&B with their pure and refreshing, yet familiar sound, which is exactly what the music industry needs. The duo focuses their creative energy on sounds that truly connect with listeners to give them something they have never heard or felt before.

  • 062 - Mattson 2 [Psych Jazz]: May 8th at Lincoln Hall
The Identical twin’s deep telepathic kinship navigates colourful forms of beautiful weirdness and exotic landscapes of layered improvisation, transcending the concept of modern musical performance. The duo shimmers and shakes with the soaring modern wizardry of Jared Mattson’s untamed, layered guitars and Jonathan’s tribal jazz hard-bop drumming – a marvel of jazz-rock orchestration and arrangement. In April 2017, Chaz Bundick Meets Mattson 2 album “Star Stuff” found itself at #1 on contemporary jazz Billboard Charts. The brothers Mattson paid tribute to Japanese legends like Shintaro & Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Haruomi Hosono on their Spring 2018 release “Vaults of Eternity” (via Carpark).“Mattson 2 Plays A Love Supreme,” (Spiritual Pajamas, 2018) is a future jazz mini symphony that shines a light into a hallway of mirrors to cast eternal reflections directly back onto the ideas and purpose of Coltrane himself, whilst challenging the very boundaries of jazz and modern pop.
