Staff from the Weston School District were in the WRCO Studio on November 19 to talk with Phil about upcoming events during the first part of the Morning Show.
Guest: Phil NeeJohn Nichols of The Cap Times and The Nation joins Dom to break down the weird reality we live in. Especially the 2024 election. First, Hovde finally conceded the Senate race to Tammy Baldwin, as we covered in the first hour. Then, what happened in the presidential race? It sure felt like an ass-whoopin. But looking at some numbers, it appears not to be quite so dramatic a “mandate” for Trump, as he received fewer than 50% of ballots cast. Finally, what’s going on with the DNC and all these staff layoffs?
In the last half hour, Dom covers an update on Trump’s promise to conduct mass deportations. As reported today, and as has been shouted by anyone who knows half a damn, mass deportations would devastate Wisconsin’s dairy business. And as we’re once more learning about policy decisions from social media posts, Trump plans to use the military to carry out the mass deportations.

Guests: John NicholsHappy Monday! To welcome this new week, Eric Hovde finally concedes the Senate race to Tammy Baldwin. Despite continuing to push grievances, he at least concedes that Baldwin got more votes than he did!
Then our favorite socialist joins us. Harvey J. Kaye is Professor Emeritus of Democracy and Justice Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. And he thinks we should be embracing getting more radical. Specifically, let’s be economically radical. Harvey says he hopes he never hears another Democratic candidate calling themselves a capitalist, rather he wants them to align with FDR’s Democratic party.

First, what the hell happened last week??? From Monday’s second hour, we catch up with our friend and favorite Democratic Socialist, Harvey Kaye. Did the Democrats forget to be the party that COMBATS inequality?
Then, from Tuesday’s first hour, a chat with Maggie Daun as she works a bit of overtime. Her analysis of the election: too many people rightly feeling existential angst. And we shouldn’t have to live in that.
Looking ahead with a bit of dread, listen to part of Wednesday’s first hour as Dom talks with Dr. Tim Slekar of Civic Media’s BustED Pencils. What do we need to watch for from this incoming administration on education? Well, a whole hell of a lot, and nothing at all…
Finally, back to Tuesday’s first hour for Dan Shafer- of The Recombobulation Area– shares his top 10 takeaways from the election. Find Dan at his substack or Civic Media podcast!

In the 9 days since being called the winner of the Presidential election, Donald Trump’s nominations for Cabinet hit new lows for qualification. Among them, Matt Gaetz for Attorney General. Yes, that Matt Gaetz who has been under House investigation for sex trafficking, among other allegations. The same Matt Gaetz who called for the abolishment of the DoJ, which he would lead as AG.

Amidst all the chaos, there’s some good news. The people, despite the enormously hot temperature of national politics, want civility. And at a townhall event in La Follette, WI, 400 Wisconsinites practiced it.
In all of this week’s finger pointing of who to blame for Trump’s electoral win, we miss the biggest target. The people who voted for Trump. Because they believed his lies. Because they were hurting economically and wanted change. Because they were ignorant. And that’s just the worst excuse of all.
