We'll introduce some medical decision models in discussing the blogs. We'll discuss Family Medicine strategies for engagement with patients in the problem focused visit. Family Medicine patients, students, faculty, physicians and thought leaders will be mentioned. More discussions about the Human Centered Health Home will be undertaken.Problem solving in the HCHH and how to honor and protect patients during the massive change coming in health care. Interview with Tom Leaman, MD Founding Chair Department of Family and Community Medicine M S Hershey Med Ctr Penn State University in Hershey, PA. We'll talk about how a new medical school and university hospital was started in Hershey, PA and how the Dept of F & CM was the first department with the first residency program in the hsopital. Dr Leaman will speak of the people and the era that pioneered the vision for his department. We'll hear of the importance of patients, students, faculty, physicians and the surrounding community in the development of the Hershey Medical Center and tom's Department. Dr Synonymous trained there, so nostalgia may spew a bit. Tom will mention thought leaders who helped to develop family medicine education, including F. Marion Bishop. He'll speak of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and his presidency of that important organization. He'll speak of what it means to be a family physician. Dr Bertka is one of the hard workers in Family Medicine. He just finished service on the AAFP Board of Directors and continues a decades long influential relationship with the Ohio AFP, including service as President and Delegate to the AAFP Congress of Delegates. Ken loved his role as co-editor of the Core Content Review of Family Medicine which has been a leader in CME for family doctors for over 40 years.
