The Dragon Reread

Terror and romance! We get a shot of Robert Jordan's trademark grisly horror reminding us of the stakes on these adventures. Then we get a shot of Robert Jordan's other trademark cheesy romance. Plus, my personal favorite thing: Dark Prophecy!

Your hosts are Jeff Lake, Micah Sparkman, and Alice Sullivan.

We tear into the Great Hunt, book 2 of the Wheel of Time! There is a lot of throat clearing in these chapters, which is to say that not a lot happens. We do finally get a strong argument for why you would want to be a Darkfriend: you get to go to sweet masked terror parties.

This is the climactic final episode of season 1 of our podcast, as we cover the climactic final chapters of The Eye of the World! This ocean of foreshadowing finally pays off in a fiery blaze of action and, well, fire.

Special note: on several occasions Jeff mistakenly refers to Shayol Ghul as Shadar Logoth. The person responsible has been sacked.

The story shifts into high gear as our heroes hurtle onward on their desperate quest. They meet yet another ancient evil and we finally get to see another country of this ever-broadening world.

Also, this episode is chock-full of Lan-service.

Dark times for our heroes as Rand and Mat make their way down the Caemlyn Road. Their money is running low and Darkfriends are around every corner. Running for your life is hard work and no fun.

You know what is fun, though? Us talking about it!

In which bad things happen to good people. Some of our heroes have a lot of trouble in Whitebridge while the rest run afoul of the Children of the Light. Man, I hate those guys.

Our heroes are scattered! Rand and Mat head downriver on a sailing ship while Perrin and Egwene meet some real strange folk. Like, wearing a red skirt and a yellow blouse strange. Can you imagine?

Our heroes' time in Baerlon is cut short. They have to make another desperate dash, and they discover that there are worse things out there than Trollocs and Fades.

Also, Mat makes his worst decision yet.

Note: the last episode was misnamed 16-20 but was actually 11-15. The person responsible has been sacked.

We see what happens when our dear village folk get their first look at a big(ish) city in Baerlon. Whitecloaks, suspicious townsfolk, and darkfriends around every corner!

They don't know who to trust. Maybe they should trust... the Devil?
