Today’s guest is Hall of Fame Coach, Tony Dungy. As a player, Dungy won Super Bowl Xlll with the Pittsburgh Steelers. After his playing career, he quickly transitioned to coaching where he became the first black head coach to hoist the Lombardi Trophy after leading the Colts to a win in Super Bowl XLI. He won coach of the year in 1997 & 2005, & was elected into the pro-football hall-of-fame in 2016. Tony Dungy & his wife Lauren raised 11 kids while navigating a strenuous workload as an NFL head Coach. Their eldest son, James Dungy, died in 2006, a year before Dungy would win Super Bowl XLI. His remarkable story is one we can all draw inspiration from.

Trenten Merrill (@trentenmerrill) is a two-time paralympian for Team USA. On March 30th, 2005, Trenten was hit by car. A short time after the accident, doctors told Trenten they were going to have to amputate his lower left leg. Since that day, Trenten has overcome much adversity, qualifying for the USA paraolympic team in both 2016 & 2020. In the 2020 Tokyo Games, he placed third in the long-jump, earning him a bronze medal for Team USA. He currently holds the US record for the long jump amongst para-athletes.

In this episode, Trenten discusses his journey from not knowing what he wanted to do after high school to winning a bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo games. We also talked in much detail about the different tactics and approaches he has taken with his nutrition .

In this episode, Trenten recounts the day that changed his life forever. He shares a crazy “God-moment” that gave him peace with the whole situation. He shares about his journey back into high school sports & how he eventually stumbled upon the opportunity to train and compete for a spot on Team USA.

I knew very little about the life of amputees before this episode. I left our conversation with a deep sense of appreciation for what they endure on a day-to-day basis. This was a 2-hour conversation. Part 2 will release later this week.

Issac Rochell (@isaacrochell), defensive end for the Cleveland Browns, is our guest today. Isaac is entering his 6th season in the NFL. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2017 NFL draft. In 2021, he signed a 1 yr., $2.5M contract with the Indianpolis Colts. Isaac played college ball at the University of Notre Dame. Since entering the NFL, he has lost close to 20 lb. & completely transformed his approach to working out & taking care of his body. Off the field, Isaac has grown a TikTok following of close to 1M followers, co-founded a luxury AirBnb experience called the Margo Estate (@margoestate), & founded several philanthropic projects including: See You on Sundays, & Local Human. In this episode, I am joined by Austin Ekeler, the starting running for the Los Angeles Chargers. Austin is the epitome of an underdog story. Austin recently signed a four-year, $24.5M contract with the Chargers last season, but if you just look at those numbers you might miss the most impressive part of his story. Austin grew up on a small ranch in Colorado and attended Western Colorado, a small D-ll school in his home state. He dominated for four years at Western Colorado, a span of time in which he amassed four consecutive 1,000 yard seasons as the starting running back. Still with all of his success, Ekeler was overlooked by NFL scouts. At only 5’8” 195lb., Ekeler was thought to be too small and lacked the experience against elite NFL caliber players (largely concentrated at D-1 schools). Ekeler signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent (UDFA) in 2017 and has since become one of the best running backs in the NFL. He is the founder of the Austin Ekeler Foundation, a foundation built on helping people find fulfillment in their daily lives. He is also the founder of Gridiron Gaming Group (GGG), a full-service esports, streaming, and gaming organization.
