In this episode, I am joined by Austin Ekeler, the starting running for the Los Angeles Chargers. Austin is the epitome of an underdog story. Austin recently signed a four-year, $24.5M contract with the Chargers last season, but if you just look at those numbers you might miss the most impressive part of his story. Austin grew up on a small ranch in Colorado and attended Western Colorado, a small D-ll school in his home state. He dominated for four years at Western Colorado, a span of time in which he amassed four consecutive 1,000 yard seasons as the starting running back. Still with all of his success, Ekeler was overlooked by NFL scouts. At only 5’8” 195lb., Ekeler was thought to be too small and lacked the experience against elite NFL caliber players (largely concentrated at D-1 schools). Ekeler signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent (UDFA) in 2017 and has since become one of the best running backs in the NFL. He is the founder of the Austin Ekeler Foundation, a foundation built on helping people find fulfillment in their daily lives. He is also the founder of Gridiron Gaming Group (GGG), a full-service esports, streaming, and gaming organization.
