The Ealing Road Podcast

On this week’s episode, Mike, Craig and Dan reflect on back-to-back wins for Keith Andrews’ Brentford side in league and cup.

A response from the team was needed after the season opener at Forest, and a response was what we got against Villa. We chat about the changes Andrews made, Dango Ouattara’s debut, and our defensive solidity.

We also react to Brentford securing safe passage through to the next round of the Carabao Cup following a 2-0 win at Bournemouth. Plenty of changes were made but - uncharacteristically - Brentford won pretty convincingly on the south coast. We chat through the formation, and Andrews’ impressive game management.

Luke Robinson from the UTV Fan Channel joins Mike ahead of Aston Villa's trip to the Gtech for Brentford's first home game of the season.

Villa - in a similar way to Brentford - were uninspiring in their season opener against Newcastle, but still managed to pick up a point despite former Bee Ezri Konsa's second half red card.

We walk through that game, why Unai Emery's system needs tweaking against Brentford, and Villa's PSR struggles which have led to an underwhelming transfer window.

On this week’s episode, Mike, Craig, Dan and Callum reflect on opening day defeat after Brentford lost 3-1 against Nottingham Forest.

Keith Andrews start to life as head coach was a tough watch. 3-0 down at half-time with next to no cohesion across the pitch has unsurprisingly sparked a fair bit of headloss. We gather to, hopefully, quell some of that.

We discuss the lineup, Igor Thiago’s performance, and changes for Aston Villa at the Gtech on Saturday.

The Athletic's Nick Miller joins Mike ahead of Brentford's season opener against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

We chat about a messy summer Forest which culminated in Nuno Espirito Santo's team being promoted into the Europa League following Crystal Palace's demotion to the Conference League.

Forest's owner Evangelos Marinakis has been central to much of the drama - we dissect his role at the club, and talk about *that* Morgan Gibbs-White contract announcement video...

We also discuss Forest's summer business, and the type of game to expect on Sunday afternoon.

Two episodes in two days! Football finance expert and host of the Price of Football Podcast Kieran Maguire joins Mike for a discussion around Brentford securing new investment.

On Tuesday, it was announced that philanthropist and former exec of Belron Gary Lubner, alongside filmmaker Sir Matthew Vaughn, have secured a minority stake in Brentford Football Club. Kieran walks us through the investment, what it means for Brentford on and off the pitch, and how it might affect our recruitment policy.

On this week’s episode, Mike and Craig reflect on ANOTHER dramatic couple of weeks for Bees fans.

First, we had Keith Andrews’ backroom staff appointments in the shape of Mehmet Ali from Arsenal, Martin Drury from Valencia, and Neil MacFarlane from Brentford B.

Antoni Milambo’s arrival from Feyenoord was then confirmed, and not long after that, it broke that Brentford had ‘won the race’ to sign 35-year-old England international Jordan Henderson on a free transfer.

Then came the news that Matthew Benham had secured new investment in the club in the form of Gary Lubner and Matthew Vaughn.

Oh, and Bryan Mbeumo still hasn’t joined Manchester United… PLENTY to get into.

On this week’s episode, Mike, Craig and Dan reflect on another turbulent week for Brentford fans, starting with reports that Keith Andrews is set to succeed Thomas Frank as Brentford manager.

The Irishman was part of Frank’s backroom staff last season serving as set piece coach, but has no experience as a first team coach at any level. We chat about the appointment, Phil Giles and Matthew Benham, and how Andrews could shape our summer transfer window.

That news was quickly followed by club captain Christian Norgaard being poached by Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. Norgaard has been at the club since 2019, and was an integral member of the squad that took us from the Championship to the Premier League. We discuss what his departure means for Brentford.
