Deborah Eden Tull shares insights from her newest book, “Luminous Darkness” (published by Shambhala Publications). We speak of the value of embracing the dark, the dangers of “spiritual bypassing”, and the importance of reclaiming the “authority of the heart”. We also talk about what Eden’s experience with a 7-year silent retreat was like!
There are so many areas of our lives in which darkness is avoided, and yet when we face this darkness, we learn about ourselves and become more complete beings. For example, we cannot simply ignore the ego, but rather must embrace it and work with it. By facing the darkness we can bring balance to our life, and avoid many of the destructive pitfalls of modern living.
