In today's first episode of Season - 2, we have Miss Ceejay from Dulsco Environment to address all the recycling queries we usually have!

Season - 1 Of The Eco Sheroes Podcast has ended after 30 Informative, entertaining episodes!

I am so grateful for everyone who listened, followed, and supported the Podcast.

I started this project passionately to celebrate the incredible work of the Eco sheroes I met through my sustainability journey! Now, it is time to take it a notch higher so I can bring even more value to all of you!

Anupama and Batul, these lovely ladies and best friends, are using their time and resources for a beautiful cause. Anupama is an Architect, and Batul is a management graduate. They started their respective careers and then had to pause to embrace motherhood and care for their families! Which sounds like most of the woman's story, right? But these two lovely women came together to utilize their knowledge and awareness about environmental problems to start a social initiative where they help spread the word while trying to improve their sustainability efforts daily! These cheerful and passionate women will engage you throughout the conversation. They prove that no matter your situation, we can make a big difference by having the will to do so!

Have you ever felt uneasy when smelling aerosol-based air fresheners?

I have experienced suffocation when exposed to strong indoor air fresheners, as has my son. My son used to feel nauseous when we used such air fresheners. I never looked into the cause then, but I stopped using these products at home to avoid feeling suffocated and making him uneasy.

As I delved deeper into environmental concerns, I was astonished to discover some shocking facts about aerosol products. This includes commercial aerosol air fresheners, perfumes, nail polish, and more. But today, we will mainly focus on air fresheners.

Here's the not-so-fresh fact about air fresheners - they do not "freshen" the air. Contrary to the name, these products mask unpleasant odors, often with artificial scents. A cocktail of chemicals is used to create these synthetic fragrances, many of which could harm our health and the environment.

In this episode, I delve deep into the reasons why you should stay away from aerosol air fresheners and all the science behind ground ozone that is creating havoc for us and the planet. Also, I give you some good alternative natural solutions that will benefit your health and the environment.

Bees! When I used to hear about them or probably have one flying around me, the instant reaction is always to be scared and close my ears :)) Does this happen to you too? Or relate to it with some other response? 

I was terrified of bees, but that fear slowly dissipated after reading this book, "What Has Nature ever done for Us?" There is a chapter in this book called "Pollinators," when I was reading that, I realized they are so precious to our ecosystem and survival. They are more than just honey makers!!

Our guest, Marita, grew up in Dubai and has seen the city evolve. In her current role as Executive Director Middle East at Surge, a water non-profit organization, she is able to fulfill her desire to help fellow human beings through her volunteer work with them.

Surge’s mission is to end the cycle of poverty by bringing safe water, sanitation, hygiene, and menstrual health solutions to those most in need. The Dubai chapter has grown steadily in the last ten years since it was established in 2013. Surge’s wider mission is to bring awareness to water conservation.

As a budding environmental activist, scuba diver, and novice beekeeper, Marita spends much of her time learning about various issues, including the mainstream education system, sustainable agriculture, and plastic pollution and their terrible side effects on the planet and our health. She volunteers with various local organizations, taught the Eco Club at her children’s school, and is generally up for anything that brings attention to these very important subjects.

Being a mother of two young girls, she is passionate about teaching children about the connectedness of everything in nature and how our ecosystem works. Personally, I loved this conversation so much! Marita explains sustainable living from a scientific, spiritual, and practical perspective by nurturing and rekindling our love of all living beings. Marita believes that together we will change the world.

Toward the end, she also describes her experience of living in the most sustainable city of Dubai, which is called "Sustainable city" :)

It is always a dream when you buy your first house or even move into a new home, even a rented one; that excitement is constantly surging through you to decorate it, make it as beautiful as you can, and purchase everything fancy as possible and on a budget you can afford! This is precisely what I felt for every rented house I moved in too :))

But most of us hardly think about what materials we bring to decorate our houses because it is external to us; it is not what we wear or eat. We never think if it will be safe for our health or the interior and exterior environment! Most of all, we never think at the end of its life how it will be discarded because we never think of where the waste goes and what impact it has on the environment, which in turn will affect us!
