For close to 30+ years of my life, I was riddled with insecurity.
For example, as a Latina with curves and wavy hair growing up in the 80s, I didn't exactly fit society's mold of beauty.
I tried everything I could to fix my insecurities. I'd exercise all the time and I'd straighten and dye my hair to try and look like the thin, yellow-haired models on TV.
I thought that if I could just be perfect, then no one would ever judge me, and all my insecurities would go away.
I have so much compassion for that version of me.
Even though I no longer have insecurities around body image, I'm still human and have other insecurities that show up for me on the regular (i.e. am I being a good enough mom, am I present enough in my marriage, am I as smart as my doctor colleagues, etc).
The difference now is that I'm able to meet those insecurities with self-compassion and give myself the grace to shift out of them.
On this week's podcast, I bring you an interview where I share my own vulnerabilities and the science to help us become more compassionate and resilient.
I'm accompanied by my colleague, and anti-diet physician coach, Dr. Trina Dorrah.
