*Emad’s English*My name is Emad and I am from Egypt. I came to the United States four years ago. When I came here, I could not speak English at all and I didn’t have any friends. Because of that, my life was very difficult. I only spoke Arabic. After living in the U.S. for a few months, I started working at Amazon. My job was good and I made good money, but my life was hard because I could not speak English. I wanted to travel alone to other cities and other states, but I couldn’t. One time, I got sick. I had a bad stomach ache. So I had to go to the doctor. The doctor couldn’t understand me because he didn’t speak Arabic and I didn’t speak English. So I had to call my friend to help me. I was frustrated and disappointed because I couldn’t live the life that I wanted to live. I also couldn’t make friends because of English. Then I made a big decision. I joined English classes at a school in my city. I started learning English. I practiced English every day for two hours. My English started to improve.Now my life is very different. My life is much better than four years ago. I can speak and communicate in English well and confidently. I can do whatever I want because I can understand and speak English. I can also help my friends and family because they can’t speak much English. I helped myself and decided to learn English. Now, I can help others, as well.
