Let's kick things off by breaking down some of the mic feedback I got after my microphone comparison and what I'm looking for in my quest for the "perfect mic." That leads into a  history lesson and discussion on the democratization of equipment and what that means not only for people who want to use all this great stuff, but for those who think that not everyone should have access to these tools.

After working on several videos, I've come to feel that the Blue Sona and Earthworks ETHOS are my best sounding microphones (at least for my voice in this specific environment). But I haven't compared them to everything, so that's where the Ul-TOM-ate Mic Showdown™ comes in.

This is a comparison of any and all microphones in my collection that I think might compare to the ETHOS and the Sona. Hopefully it's fun to listen to, and I'd definitely love to hear your thoughts!

It's the start of a new season, so my awesome wife Heather is here to talk about a pretty major mindset shift we've both had as creators over the past few months and what it means to be an "enthusiast" vs. an "authority."

Starting one YouTube channel can be a big enough challenge,  so why on earth would anyone want to start a second one? This is how I felt for quite a few years, but now my thoughts have entirely changed. Having a second YouTube channel has given me a totally unexpected creative boost and even made my "main" channel better along the way!

Everything has a cost. If you're someone who shares what you've made online at some point you'll likely find yourself being offered something "for free" from a brand. How should you handle this and what are the pros and cons of accepting "free gear?" This week's episode takes a deep dive into the world of freebies!
