The Epoch of Incredulity episodes

April 05, 2023 Episode 110 - Forklift-Related Basedness [FIXED]
Update (2023-04-08): Fixed track offset that resulted in about ten seconds of silence followed by overlap. Slight reduction in mp3 quality overall. If you become a Patron, you can help Jesse afford to keep his project files on disk ;)
****************
Jesse put a lot of work and time into this episode, while Scott slept through the recording, so please, make sure you listen to the latest Epoch. We discuss the grime reality of the latest Climate Report, and the rise of extreme weather events, hedge funds coming to buy all the water in the world, Biden giving the okay for drilling in The Gulf of Mexico, the mass exodus of nurses in Massachusetts leaving the profession, a little bit on the turmoil in both France and Israel, and finally Starbucks shareholders want an independent investigation into the company's labor practices. As promised, Joe gives his reasoning against Sport Betting while Scott tries to see it the same way. Lastly, Jesse gives us a brand new Theory Primer, this time on Bureaucratic capitalism. March 05, 2023 Episode 108 - There's a monster in the streets.
The rise of AI is swiftly on its way, but before that, we have a full plate on the Epoch. We talk about the terrible policies of Maura Healy, more train derailments, the Twitter debacle that led to Eli Lilly lowering insulin prices, the absolute state of the Supreme court, and the recent death (cancellation) of Scott Adams. Of course, it wouldn't be an Epoch if Jesse didn't wrap up the episode with a bit of dive into the conspiratorial-minded COVID lab leak hysteria. About The Epoch of Incredulity

From the publisher's feed

Here in the Boston Commune, we interpret the tumultuous churn of modernity through a Marxist lens. Episodes alternate between analyses of current events -- from the hyperlocal to the international -- and narrations of theoretical texts by communists and anti-imperialists the world over. This project was birthed in a mental health working group during the pandemic and continues in true DIY fashion, without any advertisements or monetization (save for a few generous patrons). Hard to believe, we know; for it is, after all, the Epoch of Incredulity.
