The Haunted Hosts share their thoughts on how Dracula—both book and film—have shaped modern vampire lore and culture. From Stoker’s haunting prose to Coppola’s romanticized and visually stunning interpretation, they’ll discuss how each medium brings this legendary vampire to life. They’ll compair Bram Stoker’s iconic 1897 novel, a literary masterpiece that defined Gothic horror, and Francis Ford Coppola’s lush 1992 adaptation, Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
The storytelling styles that make each version uniquely compelling. Which version left a deeper impression on you?

This week the EARTH STATION TREK crew discusses filler episodes. According to Alex Kurtzman, the advantage of doing 10 episodes per season in Modern Trek is that you eliminate filler episodes – those that fall in between the classics in order to get your season to its 22 – 26 episode order. But “fillers” have their place too! We’ll talk about what each of us considers to be filler eps, some of our favorites from the past, and whether we think (in spite of Kurtzman’s feelings) that Modern Trek has fillers too! Join us for what should prove to be a fun topic that’ll likely touch upon every Star Trek series.
Earth Station Trek is a part of the ESO Podcast Network, Executive Producer Mike Faber.

We’re watching Star Trek: Enterprise Season 2, Episode 3 “Minefield,” but only Bill has actually watched the episode. Hey everyone it’s a Malcolm-focused episode which means the writers are shaking the Etch-A-Sketch and giving us another new take on the character. It all starts with an awkward breakfast and then HOLY CRAP things are blowing up. Can Malcolm and Archer navigate both a physical minefield and their emotional minefield as Malcolm finally confesses… ah just kidding. Anyway, Romulans.

Flopcast episode 676! We’re looking back at the comic book scene of forty years ago, and we’ve brought in a special guest to help: ESO Network Director (and longtime comic book fan) Mike Faber. The big story of 1985 was Crisis on Infinite Earths, but we cover much more, including: The New Teen Titans, Justice League Detroit, the trial of the Flash, Elvira’s House of Mystery, Secret Wars II, Heroes for Hope, the silliness of Ambush Bug, the genius of Alan Moore (Swamp Thing, Miracleman), and the independent stuff too (Love and Rockets, Cerebus, DNAgents, Jon Sable Freelance, and those crazy Ninja Turtles). This podcast should be bagged, boarded, graded, slabbed, and thrown on eBay with a Buy It Now price of zero dollars.
