    January: On Existence

To kick off a year of reflections, we begin in January with looking at the meaning of existence.

Today's reflection was inspired by Stephen Crane and his poem "A Man Said to the Universe." We look at what it means to be here and ask whether or not we're owed anything by the universe just for existing.

    • Reflection title: That Strand of Hair on Your Head
    • Creative inspiration: Stephen Crane's "A Man Said to the Universe"
    • Reflection Question: What am I owed?*

Am I getting to work with the time I have and doing something worthwhile—or am I waiting around for something just because I’m here?

  • Episode 0: What is The Everyday Human?

    This is an introductory episode.

    You'll learn:

    • More about how the beautiful, mysterious, and sometimes chaotic nature of our existence inspired this project.
    • How the overuse of labels and titles and the compartmentalization and oversimplification of our lives was the impetus to shedding such labels and uncovering the humans beneath it all.
    • Why I turned to literature and poetry as well as other wonderful human creations like music, movies, video games, comics, anime, and more as companions on this journey.

In short, you'll learn what this project is and why I'm doing it.
