Discerning a vocation often feels like one of life’s greatest struggles—Who does God want me to marry? Am I even called to marriage? What is He asking me to do?

St. John Paul II wrestled with these same questions. Though he once dreamed of being an actor, his deep desire for holiness ultimately led him to the priesthood—an unexpected path that God had been preparing him for all along.

In this episode, Eve and Dr. Grattan Brown explore John Paul II’s own journey of discernment and why vocations became such a central theme of his ministry. Together, they uncover how he guided young people in discovering God’s call and the timeless wisdom he leaves us today as we seek to follow our own.

Like we've celebrated this past year in the Jubilee of Hope, John Paul II also was a "Jubilee Pope" for the year 2000. In many ways, he considered this a paramount moment in his pontificate.

In this episode, Sophia and Eve discuss how to look back at 2,000 years of Church history and see where we are invited to follow God's plan for the world in the third millennium. The Church, in many ways, is a guide for society. It is up to us in the third millennium to lead culture, through the Church, into the hands of Christ.

St. John Paul II is known for his joyful disposition and deep prayer life. Little would someone know from meeting him the incredible suffering he faced throughout his life.

Losing his entire family by the age of 21 years old, multiple near death experiences, standing up in the face of Communist Poland, and attending underground Seminary--just to name a few before his papacy had even begun.

St. John Paul II teaches us lessons of hope, perseverance, courage, and trust in God's plan for our lives. Dr. Grattan Brown joins us on this episode to delve into St. John Paul II's disposition in the face of adversity and how we can overcome suffering with the same faith as this remarkable Saint.
