Steve Coulson is the creative director over at Campfire, the company that's done a lot of amazing campaigns in the immersive and audience engaging transmedia vein over the years. Some weeks ago Steve caused a bit of a stir by releasing the graphic novel "Summer Island", a novel created with AI-generated artwork. As everyone can imagine, it's been fairly polarising, with some seeing a threat where others see possibilities.
Very timely, Steve also released his second novel today - "Exodus"!
We're back!
Welcome to a new episode of the Evolving Media podcast. In today’s episode I’ll be talking to Claudia Rinke, who’s a bestselling and award-winning author and the creator and screenwriter of the documentary film NOW - available later this spring - about the climate movement. The film features add-ons such as a podcast-series, and is an example of the interest she haves for narratives of vision and the Collective Journey. Let’s dive into it!
For almost a year the COVID-19 pandemic has created a number of obstacles not only for our everyday life, but also for creatives and producers all over the world.
At the same time, new projects featuring ways of engaging and telling stories have cropped up around the globe, as lockdowns and Zoom calls have become integrated parts of our existence.
One of these projects is called “Play Inside” - a very interesting way of letting the audience become part of the narrative, fostering understanding and empathy.
In today’s episode, I’m thrilled to have been able to have a chat with Rosie Poebright. Rosie’s the Creative Director at Splash & Ripple, PhD researcher in the Embodied Story at University of the West of England, and now co founder of Play Inside, a new form of experiential podcast which brings an immersive theatrical audio experience to your home.
In this episode we do a deep dive into the world of documentary filmmaking and the change (some would say long overdue change) that we're witnessing at the moment. Old models don't necessarily work anymore, and we desperately need to learn how to navigate new realities... while at the same time taking into consideration a whole set of new challenges and possibilities.

Some of my formative media years were spent in the TV format industry, which back in the days was a creative hotbed for new ideas with the potential to go global basically overnight. Today the industry looks different in many ways. There is no one better to talk to about the future of TV formats and how they could potentially find a purpose in today's media world than Jan Salling. Formerly of Banijay, Nordic World, Zodiak and FRAPA, he now heads up the Nordic division of BBC. If there's something he doesn't know about TV formats, it's probably not worth knowing. Welcome!

These are surreal and horrifying times we're living in, and I hope each listener to this episode are safe and sound. I've seldom felt that a podcast episode I've made been more pertinent than this one though.

Today I’m joined by Michael J Maguire, i.e. @clevercelt, Creator, Founder, Teacher, Speaker and much more. With a career spanning decades in everything from games to digital literature, and with a knowledge base rivalled by few, join Michael and me as we explore gamification, technology’s impact on us, marketing and the media, from the heyday of the Commodore 64 to what the future might bring in the way of AI and more (although in fairness we had to save the most of that chat to the next episode Michael’ll be in :).
Enjoy! And yeah - share, comment, etc and so on. Thank you!

In this episode of the Evolving Media podcast we’ll be talking about the world of social media - where we’re going, how it can be utilised best and whether bots will simply drown everything else out in the end.
To get some answers to these questions, I chat with Gavin McGarry, CEO of Jumpwire Media. Gavin started up the social media agency ten years ago and clients include the likes of Red Bull, BBC, Formula One and so on. Enjoy!
