Isaiah 61:8-11

The Lord loves justice and will faithfully give the appropriate recompense for those who do justice and for those who do not. HIs covenant with HIs people is eternal. This covenant includes gentile believers and all God's people will be known among the nations, a possible reference to believers having perfect glorified bodies in the millennium! Isaiah ends the chapter with an outpouring of praise for His righteousness and God's phenomenal gift of salvation to humanity.

Isaiah 61:3- 7

God will comfort His people. Some comfort is certainly given in this life, but it will be fully given in the future when Christ reigns on the earth. The Lord will eliminate mourning, sin, fear, and fainting. His people will be strong, "Oaks of righteousness." God will be glorified in us and through us. We will eat the wealth of nations and those who formerly were enemies will serve God's people. We will have everlasting joy.

Isaiah 61:1-2

Isaiah chapter sixty-one begins with Jesus' own words about the redemptive ministry He will have when He comes the first time in particular. The chapter begins with a clear reference to the trinity. We note five aspects to Messiah's ministry: bringing good news to the afflicted, binding up the broken-hearted, proclaiming liberty to captives, freedom for prisoners, and to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord. Even in the midst of such wonderful news, the Lord does remind us that there is a coming day of vengeance and judgment.

Isaiah 55:11-13

God's word will absolutely accomplish what He sends it out to do. That purpose is very much tied up with the gospel which is what Isaiah 55 is all about. Part of the promise of the gospel includes eternal joy and peace. In fact, this passage pictures nature as celebrating the saving of God's people. The gospel is about an everlasting salvation.

Isaiah 55:6-11

The Lord declares that people need to repent and seek Him immediately. The door of salvation will not be forever open. God gives us the offer of repentance resulting in abundant pardon. The Lord also assures us that His ways are not like our ways, they are infinitely higher. This is the offer of perspective. No one can perceive God's thoughts or ways or processes. He assures us that what He intends to do WILL come to pass whether we can understand it or not.

Isaiah 55:1-5

Most of chapter 55 is spoken by the pre-incarnate Messiah, Jesus. The invitation is to come and drink, without cost, of the waters of redemption and to not waste time on things that don't matter. This is the offer of mercy through which the Lord promises that through His mercy He will establish an everlasting covenant. The offer of Messiah, in verses 3-5, is given freely to all people. Strong hints of the inclusion of the gentiles in eternal salvation are given.

Isaiah 49:17-26

The Lord promises He will never forget His people. His blessings and kindness and generosity will be beyond comprehension. Enemies will eventually disappear and the people will return to their land in excessive numbers. Hints at the presence of the church can be seen in this passage as well, present with Israel in the Millenium. The Lord also promises judgment on the wicked and the elimination forever of oppressors.

Isaiah 49:9-16

Chapter 49 continues to relate the great and undeserved blessing God will pour out on His people; spiritual and physical blessings on believing Jews and Christians. This is entirely because of Messiah's sacrifice in the cross, validated through the resurrections. The passage includes strong implications about the millennial reign of Christ on earth. The Lord promises He will never forget His people making the comparison that it is more likely that a mother would forget her own child than God forget His people.

Isaiah 55:8

God’s work is always accomplished in the fullness of His time. This is a hugely important principle in the life of a believer. We look at six reasons, from our perspective, that God may delay to answer prayer. We also see four things in verse eight, that God the Father will do in and through God the Son, Messiah. In particular, the restoration of the Promised Land is in view here.

Isaiah 55:6-7Through the Messiah, the Father wants to save more than just the Jews; He wants all the gentiles to come to salvation as well. We see that the atonement is unlimited in scope. We note that although the text says Messiah will be rejected, even despised and abhorred, that one day He will rule over heaven and earth, both in the Millenium and into eternity. We look at what the Scripture means when it says Jesus “emptied” Himself.
