Ephesians 1:11-14

We see more of what the summing up of all things in Christ means as it reflects God's sovereignty. Plus we look at the first of four themes of our salvation in Christ, that is, our inheritance. It is imperishable, undefiled, unfading, and reserved in heaven

Ephesians 1:10

God sovereignly superintends all circumstances including those regarding Christ's redemption of humanity. We see Old Testament examples of how God accomplished what He desires in spite of human obstacles and unbelief. The plans and purposes of God will be perfectly fulfilled in His time yet He does eliminate or deny human free-will. All things in this world are summed up in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 1:5-9 

We study three privileges as adopted sons and daughters of God; free access to God, redemption, and forgiveness. All three exist in Christ alone. Paul also states the matter of "the mystery of His will." These include the reality that God would save man at all, that the gentiles are included in the kingdom of God, and the relationship of Christ to the church.

Ephesians 1:4-5

In this lesson we see the foundation of God's choosing of His people as well as the anticipated outcome. We also address the matter of predestination, free-will,  and how this accords with the plan and purpose of God for humanity. We note the extremely high importance of holiness in God's kingdom in His people here on earth and, again, the emphasis of this all being accomplished through Christ alone.

Ephesians 1:2-3This session emphasizes two fundamental realities of our salvation: grace and peace. These essential matters are completely initiated by God and emphasized throughout the book of Ephesians. We see that God is not stingy, but that He delights in blessing His people and in fact gives us every spiritual blessing. These exist in one place alone, "in Christ Jesus," also a critical factor that Paul emphasizes in this epistle.

Ephesians has been described as "the queen of epistles." Paul describes himself as an apostle by the will of God. We look at what that means and the application to all Christians. Paul tells the Ephesians that they are saints. This Greek word for saints is very significant and has powerful applications for believers. Paul introduces the key phrase of Ephesians, "in Christ," and we begin to look at the many implications of this simple, but important phrase.

Isaiah 66:20-24Isaiah ends his book of prophecy with wonderful assurances about eternal blessings for His people. All humanity will bow before Him; believers from every "tribe, tongue, and nation" revealing to us that the church will accomplish its great purpose of worldwide evangelism. God's people will join Him in the new heavens and new earth forever. Isaiah includes one last warning to the lost about the horror of hell and its eternal consequences.

Isaiah 66:17-20Isaiah briefly addresses the absolute end of false prophets, but then he turns to the glory of the Lord. In this setting, it is the glory of Jesus in His return to earth. In His omniscience He knows and will know the thoughts of every human. Survivors from all the earth will see Him and proclaim HIs glory everywhere, likely in a Millennial setting. In anticipation of the work of the church, we see Christian believers bringing the Jews to God.

Isaiah 66:14-16

Isaiah tells us in verse fourteen of four results of His actions in the previous verses which will greatly benefit His people. But he also tells us of four aspects of God's wrathful fiery judgment. These are poured out on all the wicked and seem to point ultimately to the wrath of God on all nations at Armageddon. The essence of this judgment seems to be a judgment of fire on the earth which occurs during or immediately following the return of Christ.

Isaiah 66:7-13Isaiah gives one of the most astounding prophecies in all of the Bible. That is, that Israel will return to their land and be restored as a nation in a single day under the sovereignty and providence of God. We look at the specific and amazing fulfillment of that prophecy. There will be great joy and "exceeding gladness" for all of God's people as well as comfort and bountiful blessing.
