What do chairs have to do with anything? Well, a lot of really important things start with a conversation - and a couple of chairs are a great place for that to begin. Our American society has a heartbreaking 401 year old issue of racism and division, separation and disunity, dislike, distrust, disdain, and, down to the core, hate. As we hear the reports, watch the news, ponder and participate in our brokenness as a nation, believers should be asking "How does God want US to respond?" His Word says, “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act” (Proverbs 3:27).
When it comes to our national crisis and we think about what good we can do and our power to act, we can all pull up some chairs. Really. Of course, it’s infinitely more complex than this, but it may also be just this simple.
Our society is not going to intrinsically change until society’s people change. A couple of chairs multiplied by millions of homes and parks and neighborhoods and churches our whole nation over - - - now that DOES have the power to change the anger to love.
This is our power to do good. This is our power to act. So, pull up some chairs in your own life, and disciple the next generation in how God tells His people to do good, too.
