Schools created policies allowing gender identity transitions for students without informing parents. A recent Supreme Court decision is putting those policies under scrutiny. In this episode, Family Policy Alliance president and CEO Craig DeRoche talks with Jonathan Keller, president of California Family Council, about a major court case involving parental rights and school gender policies. They explain how some California schools allegedly kept separate records about a student’s gender identity, allowing staff to treat students as a different gender while withholding that information from parents. The conversation breaks down:• The policies that sparked the lawsuit• The 6–3 U.S. Supreme Court decision allowing an injunction blocking the policies• Why the case matters for parental rights in schools nationwide• What happens next as the case continues through the courtsThey also discuss the broader debate around gender ideology in education and why civic engagement plays a role in shaping education policy.Learn more about the work of California Family Council at https://www.californiafamily.org/Subscribe for more conversations on faith, culture and public policy. #LetParentsParent #familypolicyalliance #ParentalRights #SupremeCourt #EducationPolicy #GenderIdeology #PublicPolicy
Is it the “West Bank” or Judea and Samaria? The name you use shapes the history you believe.
In this episode of The SoCon Report, Craig DeRoche sits down with Gideon Israel, founder and president of the Jerusalem-Washington Center, to examine the history, faith and growing U.S. legislation surrounding the region commonly called the “West Bank.”
Gideon explains how the term “West Bank” originated in 1948 under Jordanian control and why many believe it diminishes the Jewish and biblical connection to the land. The conversation explores why “Judea and Samaria” is the historically and biblically rooted name tied to key events in Scripture, including Hebron, Bethlehem and Joshua’s altar.
You’ll also hear:
• How a 2024 National Religious Broadcasters resolution sparked federal and state legislation
• Why Arkansas has already passed a law recognizing “Judea and Samaria” in official communications• Which states are advancing similar bills
• Why language matters in public policy, faith and international relations
• What Christians can do to stay informed and engaged
This discussion connects biblical history, U.S.–Israel relations, state legislation and the importance of preserving truth in our public language.

In this episode of The SoCon Report, Family Policy Alliance President and CEO Craig DeRoche sits down with Ben Quine, Vice President of Christians Engaged, and his wife Julie, co-authors of A Biblical Worldview Primer, to explain why many of today’s cultural and moral conflicts are rooted in worldview—not merely politics or ideology.

This week on The SoCon Report, we’re bringing you one of the most important and sobering conversations we’ve ever hosted. I sat down with Jason McGuire, Executive Director of New York Families Foundation, whose newly released documentary Inmate 090198 tells the full story of what happened when the state came after him for standing firm in his Christian convictions.
Many of you know Jason as a faithful advocate for life, family, and religious liberty in one of the toughest political climates in the country. What fewer people know is the personal cost he paid when New York Attorney General Letitia James launched charges against him, setting off years of legal pressure and intense public scrutiny. Jason’s account reveals the growing reality of lawfare aimed at silencing Christian and conservative voices.
In our interview, Jason talks openly about the moment the charges came, how he processed the accusations, and what it was like to spend his first weekend behind bars as a husband, father, and ministry leader. He also shares how the Lord strengthened him when the weight of the situation felt overwhelming.
Jason’s new documentary Inmate 090198 is now available, and I cannot encourage you strongly enough to watch it. His story is a warning, but it is also a testimony of God’s faithfulness in the fire.

A major legal victory has been announced in Texas that impacts every family in America, and we’re excited to share the news! In this episode, I sit down with Jonathan Covey, Director of Policy at Texas Values.
Jonathan and his team played a central role in securing a significant legal win when the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals vacated a federal injunction against Senate Bill 12. This is the Texas law designed to protect children from exposure to drag shows and “hyper sexualized performances.”
This ruling allows SB 12 to move forward, and it marks a meaningful step in the effort to safeguard children from inappropriate performances that have no place in front of kids. Jonathan has spent years working in the Texas Capitol and as a senior policy analyst in the state senate. His experience gives him a unique perspective on why this issue matters and what comes next in the broader fight to defend families.
In the episode, we walk through how the case unfolded, why the appeals court sided with Texas, and how this ruling addresses the First Amendment claims critics often raise. We also talk about how this victory could serve as a model for other states and the additional battles Texas Values is facing right now.

There is big news out of Nebraska’s pro-life movement—and we want you to hear the story directly from the people who helped make it happen.
In the latest episode of The SoCon Report, Family Policy Alliance CEO Craig DeRoche sits down with Nate Grasz, President of Nebraska Family Alliance, to talk about one of the most significant pro-life victories in recent years.
On November 6, 2025, Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen signed an executive order directing the state’s Department of Health and Human Services to end Medicaid contracts with any provider that performs abortions, including Planned Parenthood and its affiliates. This bold action cuts off taxpayer funding to abortion providers across Nebraska, advancing a true culture of life.
In this episode, Craig and Nate discuss:
This inspiring conversation is a must-watch for everyone who believes in protecting life and ensuring taxpayer dollars never fund abortion.

Our nation’s heroes carry heavy burdens, and too many are carrying them alone. Veteran suicide is now the second leading cause of death for former military service members under 45. Families are hurting, and many are searching for hope that speaks to both their needs and their faith.
On this week’s episode of The SoCon Report, Family Policy Alliance CEO Craig DeRoche sits down with Mike Lynn, co-founder of Pray.com, to talk about a fresh approach that honors our veterans.
Pray.com is helping provide faith-based digital tools that come alongside the mental health services already offered through the Department of Veterans Affairs. Their goal is to help veterans find strength, peace, and encouragement rooted in faith.
Craig and Mike discuss how digital resources can support chaplains, reduce the stigma around seeking help, and offer real hope for military families who feel unseen.
If you care about our veterans, or you know someone who does, this is a conversation worth hearing. Watch the episode now, and please consider sharing it with a veteran or military family in your life.
Thank you for standing with Family Policy Alliance as we support those who have sacrificed for our country.
