In this week’s SoCon Report podcast, we are diving into one of the most important battlegrounds for families in America: local school boards. The decisions made by school board members determine how our children learn, how parents are included, and whether our communities protect the values we care about most.
Family Policy Alliance CEO Craig DeRoche is joined by Amanda Banks, Senior Vice President at Family Policy Alliance and the leader of our School Board Academy. Amanda is working with school board members across the nation to equip them with practical, pro-family tools. She and her team provide training in worldview, curriculum standards, dealing with cultural challenges like gender ideology, and handling issues with clarity and grace.
Her impact is already significant. Hundreds of school board members from more than 40 states have taken part in this training. And if you or someone you know serves on a school board, you will hear about brand-new training opportunities designed to help leaders stand firm for families in their communities.
This week’s episode answers key questions such as:
• Why the influence of school boards has grown so rapidly
• How our Academy is shaping leaders with confidence and biblical conviction
• How board members can communicate winsomely on controversial issues
• And much more!
This is the information pro-family families need right now.
Thank you for standing with us as we work to protect children, support parents, and build stronger communities. When we equip courageous leaders at the school board level, we strengthen the foundation of every classroom in America.

Now, as Kansas prepares for a pivotal 2026 gubernatorial race, she joins Craig to unpack what’s at stake and how families can engage.
They also discuss:

What happened at the U.S. Supreme Court on October 7 could reshape the future of free speech, religious liberty, and counseling for children struggling with gender identity.
The case is Chiles v. Salazar, a direct challenge to Colorado’s law that bans licensed counselors from helping minors accept their biological sex, even when that’s what the child and family want. In other words, the state is trying to control what counselors are allowed to say.
Joseph Kohm, our Vice President of Public Policy and co-host of the podcast House to Home, joins Craig in our latest episode of The SoCon Report. Joseph was in Washington, D.C., during the oral arguments and witnessed the events unfold. In this episode, we break down:
This is more than a courtroom battle. It is about who has the right to speak truth and help hurting children: families or the government.
Watch the new episode now and share it with friends, pastors, and anyone who cares about protecting kids and preserving freedom. Thank you for standing with us as we defend faith, family, and freedom.

Arkansas Representative Ryan Rose, one of our Family Policy Foundation Statesmen Academy graduates, and his wife, Tiffany, never expected to face two rounds of cancer. But through chemotherapy, surgery, and remission, they discovered a calling to make sure no woman faces unnecessary barriers to breast cancer care.
Their journey led to Arkansas House Bill 1309, signed by Governor Sarah Sanders earlier this year, which removes cost barriers to mammograms and screenings for women across the state.
In this week’s SoCon Report podcast, Craig talks with Rep. Rose about how faith turned their family’s hardship into hope for others. You’ll be encouraged by their courage, their love, and their belief that God can bring purpose out of pain. They discuss:

Our movement is not just one national organization; it’s a family of 40 state-level family policy councils reaching more than 50,000 churches and millions of Americans. Together, we’re working at the grassroots level to bring about lasting change for life, religious freedom, and families in your community.
One of the most innovative councils is Wyoming Family Alliance, and in a short time they’ve already made a big impact. From advancing Help Not Harm laws to protecting girls’ sports and pushing for age-verification safeguards online, their leadership is helping shape a stronger, safer Wyoming.
On the latest episode of our podcast, Craig joins Nathan Winters, President & CEO of Wyoming Family Alliance Action and Foundation. Nathan brings his experience as a pastor, a former member of the Wyoming House of Representatives, and now a pro-family leader to discuss the victories already achieved and the challenges ahead. If there has ever been a time to get involved in the faith issues shaping our culture, it’s now. That’s why we sat down with our friends at First Liberty Institute, Andrea Justus and Matt Krause, to talk about an initiative that is already making a real difference: Restoring Faith in America.
This movement is bringing prayer and public faith back into our communities, from student-led prayer in schools to moments of silence in government and religious liberty projects nationwide. In this episode, we explore how everyday believers can get involved, what legal tools are available to protect your rights, and the victories we’re already seeing.
If you believe faith is essential to America’s public life, this is a conversation you don’t want to miss. We discuss how this movement will…
• Give Christians practical tools to defend their freedoms in their own communities.
• Help towns and cities that want to showcase our national motto, nativity displays, or Ten Commandments monuments.
• Inspire students, educators, and citizens to practice their faith openly and confidently.
• Offer training and resources so families and churches can stand strong together.
We believe the time has come to move beyond defense. Through this partnership, we are taking proactive steps to restore faith to its rightful place in America’s public square.

Big Tech has crossed a dangerous line, and one mom is fighting back. Melissa McKay and her team at the Digital Childhood Institute have filed a sweeping 50-page complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. The complaint accuses Apple of endangering children through deceptive App Store practices, including:
Melissa is not just an advocate. She’s a mother of five who turned her concern for her own kids into a nationwide movement. From launching the first campaigns demanding App Store accountability to helping pass Utah’s groundbreaking App Store Accountability Act in 2025, she has become one of the strongest voices in America for online child safety.
On this week’s episode of The SoCon Report, I sit down with Melissa to talk about this landmark case, why it matters for every family, and what you can do to protect your children online.

What happens when a teacher’s faith collides with a school’s pronoun policy?
In our latest podcast, I sit down with Josh Hershberger, attorney, minister, and Director of the Church Ambassador Network, to discuss the case of John Kluge. In 2018, Kluge resigned from Brownsburg Community School in Indiana after his religious exemption to a pronoun policy was revoked. His case is now headed to a jury, and the outcome could set a powerful precedent for religious liberty in classrooms nationwide.
Josh unpacks why this case matters for teachers, parents, and people of faith, and what it means for the future of religious freedom in America’s schools, including:
· Religious freedom at stake: Kluge’s fight against a school pronoun policy could shape how schools across the country handle faith-based accommodations.
· Legal insights: Why the court’s rejection of the school’s “emotional distress” claim is a key turning point.
· National implications: The outcome of this case may set a precedent for teachers, public employees, and people of faith navigating similar cultural battles.
We hope you’ll take time to watch and share this important discussion. Together, we can ensure that people of faith are free to live out their convictions.
