The Fantasy Joes

The Fantasy Joes are joined by [Caleb Pierson](https://twitter.com/Pierson242FF), writer for [FFD260](https://ffdynasty260.com/?s=caleb+pierson), to discuss the 2018 NFL offenses the Joes are most excited about and why. The Joes also introduce a new segment, “You Make the Call”, which examines what choice you should make when faced with a tough decision between players you value the same when on the clock in a draft. This is a SFB8 edition, but the conversation should have some value to you in other leagues as well, including the just announced Fantasy Joes Bowl!

### The Fantasy Joes Bowl 2018

If you missed out on SFB8, this is your chance to not only experience the thrill of the "choose your own adventure" style draft that Scott Fish has created, but it is also your opportunity to WIN A SPOT IN SFB9! That's right, the winner of the Fantasy Joes Bowl 2018 is going to not only win some $$$, but also win a spot in SFB9.

Cost: $10

Setup: Divisions of 12 teams (we will fill as many as we can)

Payouts: For every 12 team division we fill, we will be sending $100 to FantasyCares. The other $20 will go to the winner of the division. And the Grand Champion from among the division winners will be awarded a spot in SFB9.

Playoffs: After week 12, the top 6 teams in total points in each division will make the playoffs. Of those 6 teams in each division, the team that scores the most points combined in weeks 13 and 14 will be deemed the division champ. The division champs will all faceoff in combined points for week 15 and 16 for the spot in SFB 9.

The Fantasy Joes are back in full force with Will’s return! On this episode, the Joes discuss the lessons they learned from reviewing the results of a 2018 dynasty startup draft...that they did back in June of 2017 (it starts at the 19:30 mark if you want to skip the #SFB8 talk). From successes (like Trey grabbing Todd Gurley, Keenan Allen, AND DeAndre Hopkins in the 2nd round) to failures (like Ryan drafting Corey Davis in the 1st and Dez in the 2nd, doh!), hear the Joes discuss the major takeaways from this exercise.

Also, the Joes discuss #SFB8, including the SFB8 Podathon that was organized by [@LetoSal](https://twitter.com/LetoSal) on Monday, 7/9 ([check us out here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvrKK16Co1A) at 2 p.m. EST and donate at [fantasycares.net](fantasycares.net)), and England’s quest for the World Cup!

### Mentioned on the show:

We'll be jumping on the #SFB8 Podathon with [@LetoSal](https://twitter.com/LetoSal) and the rest of the [FLAFFLHouse](https://twitter.com/FLAFFLHouse) Crew on Monday, afternoon at 2 p.m. Eastern on July 9th. [Check it out here!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvrKK16Co1A)

Peter Overzet, host of Fantasyland, the amazing podcast from RotoViz, joins the 2/3rds of the Fantasy Joes (where are you Will?) to talk about some #DynastyTrades. Not to be outdone, The Manz himself crashes the party to discuss with the Joes the “bad boys” of the NFL and how to value them in Dynasty.

All too often, some of the best discussions the Fantasy Joes have never make the podcast. This minimally edited episode gives you a behind-the-scenes listen into what these conversations are like. From a brief discussion of a 2018 startup dynasty mock draft the Joes did back in the summer of 2017, to a “How well do you know 26-year-old WRs” game, to the world premiere of “Hey There Saquon” (at the 1 hour and 12 minute mark...saving the worst, er, I mean best for last), this episode is full of the kind of fun and unique dynasty football content the Joes strive to deliver you each and every week. Also on this episode, the Joes announce their brand new [Patreon page](https://www.patreon.com/fantasyjoes), discussed why they launched it, and announce the opportunity for Patreon patrons to get exclusive access to the soon-to-be-launched biweekly "Fantasy Joes: Uncut, Unedited, and Uncensored Podcast"!

On this episode, the Fantasy Joes discuss a number of guys they think represent great summer value buys in dynasty. These are players to target right now that the Joes think are a tremendous value. This is actionable advice...rookie drafts may be over, and we may still be months away from real football, but there is no reason to not be proactive in making your dynasty teams better!

The Fantasy Joes discuss some players they love, but feel they are getting overhyped and/or overvalued as we head deeper into summer. There isn’t a consensus on all of these players among the Joes, so there is plenty of healthy debate on this episode! Players discussed include JuJu, Allen Robinson, and Mike Gesicki. Plus, find out if any of the Fantasy Joes have ever pulled a Kareem Hunt and punched a dude at an Ohio resort...it’s a show you don’t want to miss!

Dan Meylor [@dmeylor22](https://twitter.com/dmeylor22) from DLF joins the Fantasy Joes to talk salary cap. Whether you are completely new to the concept of a salary cap league or a seasoned veteran, you’ll want to listen in as Dan, one of the biggest proponents of salary cap leagues in the Dynasty community, share his deep knowledge about the salary cap format. From mistakes for new owners to avoid to listening to Dan’s thought process as he evaluates salary cap trades from #DynastyTwitter, you don’t want to miss this episode!

The Fantasy Joes plant flags this week on their “Joes’ Pros”, players they are buying that they believe will be significant fantasy performers in 2018 and beyond. The Joes also share players they don’t believe in that you might want to considering selling sooner rather than later. Also, Trey and Will face off against each other in a #DynastyTwitter game. And, the Joes make perhaps their first official “Grab Bag of Shame” bet in show history!

This is the time of year when you hear the same narratives over and over again about certain players and why or why not they’ll be successful in 2018 and beyond. Is Sony Michel someone to avoid drafting since “you can never trust a New England running back”? Should we be afraid of Rashaad Penny because, you know, he will be “running behind a horrible offense line” in Seattle? Royce Freeman absolutely “landed in the perfect landing spot” in Denver, correct? The Fantasy Joes act as a GPS to guide you safety down the good parts of Narrative Street by addressing these narratives and more. Plus, the Joes perhaps hit a new low with some of the music they “produced” for this episode, Greg Olsen raps, and is it Laurel or Yanny?

Ask and ye shall receive! Listeners were disappointed we didn’t dive into the later rounds of the Superflex Rookie Mock Draft on last week's episode. So, this week we are doing just that! And, the Joes are joined in this effort by none other than Jordan McNamara ([@McNamaraDynasty](https://twitter.com/McNamaraDynasty)), co-host of the UTH premium podcasts and contributor at FantasyPros.com. Jordan doesn’t only offer his assessment of these later round picks, but also serves up some great late round rookie draft strategy that just might help you win your leagues this year.
