Todays Episode is a focus on the recent trailer for Wakanda Forever and where we may have lost ourselves in the legacy of a character like T'challa. I talk about where we were back in 2018 when Black Panther first dropped in theatres to present day where it seems the audience is now extremely divided on the moment that brought many fans together in the first place and the creativity that exploded from it.
Today I sit once again with Braxton Cosby of Starchild Comics to talk about his newest installment Broken. A comic set in a Dystopian Future filled with the backdrop of a nuclear holocaust, slave settlements, and the living dead all while revolving around a young 16 year old named Keesa who everyday looks upon an unforgiving world and wonders what else is out there. In the midst of her curiosity, a hierarchy called the Establishment has the new rules to this world that she hopes to break.
Today I sit with Frederick Littles of Wise Acre Comics and Creator of Magnus, the intergalactic war saga about a lost prince who finds out very quickly that he has a destiny to fulfill. We discuss the inspiration in Frederick starting his comic book imprint to the importance of character designs to basing his characters with West African Yoruba Mythology and with Fredericks time in the military we see some of the Protagonist like General Stamos molding the mind and body of Magnus for a fight and a lineage he will soon come to find out.
Today I sit with Damien Becton, Creator of the Sci-Fi Space Odyssey Worlds Away about the significance of his tale between a very protective mother and an immensely naive daughter surviving in a futuristic world. We discuss how much the lead character Serenity reminds him of his own mother as well as Damien's profession as an educator and how that shaped his comic book style. As a Mad Cave comic book Talent Winner, his promising future in indie comics has just begun and we looking forward to seeing more from him.
Today I sit with James "Enoch" Church Creator of Immortal Dark a Supernatural Martial Arts Manga where we discuss how the book centers on 2 siblings marred by generational trauma and their distance from one another. Anime becomes inspiration in molding this book centered on Tribe and spiritual factions that operate and Mixed Martial arts competition. Also, we speak on James transition from Spoken Word Poet to Manga Writer as he is student of research and lastly the mission behind Black Minds Publishing.
Today I sit with John Robinson IV Creator of Scorpio Vol. 1 a compilation of his 3 issue Urban Fantasy Comic. We discuss the curiosity around Astrology and why he detailed his characters in such a way. Also, we ponder the differences between Epic and High fantasy rather than Urban Fantasy, the signature plot of relics and the Zodiac, as well as John's Podcast "Beyond the IV Wall" where he speaks with like minded writers about their challenges and triumphs in writing comics and graphic novels.
Today I sit with Quintin Dorsey Creator and Author of Knight of Abyss where we discuss Vol 1 and 2 of his epic graphic novel. Also, the patience in showcasing your character designs until you get traction on social media, how anime shaped the series, and even when celebrities find heavy interest in your work.
Today I sit with our return guest Brian Lambert of Wingless Comics to talk about the third installment through Heaven and Hell with Justice #3. We discuss how he has mastered the art and utilizing a plethora of Mythologies from many cultures into this one book. Also, since our last talk how Nightfall (his Collaborative comic with Constant Hustle Comics) now provides continuity within this current storyline.
Today I sit with Serena Sanchez to talk about her First Installment to her new book Black Rhapsody. A mixture of Lovecraftian Horror, Witchery, Pop Life , and Jem and Holograms focusing on the protagonist Alethea and her maneuvering through an evil cult like record label and Pop star Antagonist and Ancient Goddess named Dulcibella.
Today I sit with Newton Lilavois Creator of the smash independent comic Crescent City Monsters to talk about his latest story Kisha Demon Eater. We touch on his exploration into African Mythology with the Angolan Demon God Kishi and his many sons until he has his first daughter who seeks his attention and affection and gets neither of the two until one day she meets Kisha Malveaux and all that changes. We also talk about his partnership with his great artist Gian Carlo Bernal, Kisha's acquisition as a character in Blankos Block Party, and the overall story of Kisha seeking acceptance from her Father.
