Today I speak Once again with Dave Schwartz and his take on Classic Horror in the Confederate South that begs the question: What if the South was losing so bad that they resorted to drastic measures in taking Igor the famous assistant of Dr. Frankenstein hostage to rebuild their ranks with corpses of the Undead. In Issue 5, the gang is all back together Victor Frankenstein, Igor, The Bride and Frankenstein's Monster are now trying to escape to alert President Lincoln of what is approaching to take on the Union Army and that its the Undead.
Today we speak with Adam Downing of Resolve Comics to talk about his latest project on Kickstarter SUPER DANGEROUS which poses the question: Exactly what are the repercussions to saving the world? Jah Sanders comes to grips with his powers at the naive age of 19 and has done pretty everything you could do if you had the right mind to be a hero on earth. Until you aren't, Fear is always on the back on others minds and this is what Jah has to deal with not only from the government, but his own family. Listen as we speak on the cursed blade that constructed his powers as well as who is hunting him in issues 1-2. Live on Kickstarter
Today I sit with Lonzo Starr CEO of Konkret Comics to speak of his newest venture on Kickstarter as his company Konkret Comics has put up 4 Trade Volumes of their Titles such as Akolyte, Odina, Absolver, and Deja-Vu as an exclusive Comic Con package never to be released again. Lonzo brings us back to Konkret's inception in 2018 and what its meant to see his company expand. Also, we ask about Konkret Comics current relationship with Diamond Distribution and what it means to smaller indie comic publishers putting out their books in the future on the direct market.
Happy Black History Month, and to kick off February I sit with Andre Burkley to speak about the coming of age superhero tale Pantheon under his imprint Omni Comics. Its the story of Ashton Adams, a child with his morals in check and a heart of gold, who amongst bullies and an unforgiving tragedy gets chosen by an entity by the name of Veil who has waited for hundreds of years to finally find the Protector of the Omniverse. The Universe used to be under the care of 12 Deities until one choses to overthrow his other brothers and sisters in his quest for power. This leads to 6 escaping and creating Veil who is given a mission to find the next protector.
Today I finally get to speak about a book from Mad Cave Comics that I've obsessed over for the past 2 months as I sit with Rick Quinn & Dave Chisholm and their Cosmic Musical Supernatural (wait, that's too many adjectives) tale of 2 characters one in each issue: Melody Parker and Ada Latimer. Melody is conflicted by loss living on the streets of Seattle during the WTO Protests with nothing but her Sony Walkman when her reality starts to bend and a world between her world starts to appear. Clueless by what she is seeing, we then get transported to a time of Jazz and early Rock n Roll. We come to find the Melody was at one point a prodigy in music, but the loss of her mother made her lose her way. A mysterious character named Echo seems to know that Melody holds the solution to a secret war within the world.
Issue 2 brings us Ada Latimer, a record store owner who similarly is also dealt with the disappearance of her Father. A former Musician, who after his first album vanished when she was a child. She describe her fathers music as eclectic and maybe before its time. Ada inherited his record collection and with every chord played she is taken to a place where she is closer to him. Her Boyfriend Theo, a strange character persona himself makes her life seem normal. Until Echo presents herself to take Ada in the same manner as she did Melody.
A thriller nonetheless, but embolden in those who love music. (watch for the easter eggs)
Today I sit down with Nigel Lynch of Beyond Caribbean Publishing/Wise Acre Comics to discuss the origin story of Tala a young Mercenary whom I read as a part of his first book we covered Critical Ops Task Force. We come to find her story as a child growing homeless with her sister until she was caught in the web of Human Trafficking. As I've come to know her through the previous project the innocence and adolescence of this child is pried away and rips her sister from her. Live on Kickstarter in February
