It is being reported that a body has been found by the crew looking for Naya Rivera. She went missing on July 8th on Lake Piru after she rented a boat for her and her 4 year old son. The Sheriff who has been tweeting updates on the search, tweeted that they did find a body in the lake this morning but have yet to confirm if it is Naya. TMZ is reporting that the body that has been found is Naya Rivera. Police will hold a press conference happening at the lake this afternoon to give more information.

After the first day of Naya going missing officials said it went from a search to a body recovery since they presumed she had drowned. As the search continued in the surrounding areas they said they had no reason to believe she exited the water.  

Louis Tomlinson is parting ways from the record label Syco that he was signed to after all the boys from One Direction decided to pursue their own solo careers. He was the only member that signed to Simon Cowells’ record label back in 2015. He tweeted saying, 

“Hope everyone is doing ok! Just wanted to let you know that Syco Music and I have agreed to part ways. I’m really excited for the future and to be back in the studio writing the next album. Can't wait to finally see you all on tour!! Stay safe and see you soon, Louis x”  

Lisa Marie Presley’s son Benjamin has died of an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound at the age 27. Benjamin has always been known for his similar looks to his grandfather Elvis and was in music himself. He reportedly signed a 5 million dollar record deal back in 2009 with Universal to record 5 albums. He leaves behind three siblings, an older sister Riley and younger twins Finley and Harper.  

Many celebrities and high figures have come together to sign an open letter urging the UK government to ban conversion therapy. People like Elton John, Dua Lipa, Jade from Little Mix, and comedian Katherine Ryan have all signed the letter, that refers to conversion therapy as a form of “torture” which is still legal where they are. Conversion therapy is a treatment that aims to change a person’s sexual orientation and is illegal in many places since it can often cause more harm than good. It has been proven to lead to high levels of mental health problems including suicidal feelings, self harm and eating disorders. There has also been an online petition calling for the same ban that has been signed by over 215 thousand people. 

Halsey got a new tattoo to pay tribute to her friend Juice WRLD. Written in cursive across the back side of her hand, her new tattoo says “life’s a mess 999” which is the title of the song her and juice wrld did together as well as 999 which is Juice’s favourite number and a tattoo he had himself, which represents making good out of bad. Halsey showed off her new tattoo on her Instagram.

Naya Rivera is missing and presumed to have drowned. Naya rented a boat on Lake Piru with her 4 year old son. When officials found him sleeping inside the boat alone, hours later. He said he and his mom went swimming and she never returned to the boat. The officials don’t believe there was any foul play. Her son was wearing a life jacket but she was not. 

Kanye said he is no longer backing Trump and is taking off the red MAGA hat for good. We talked about in the last episode that if Kanye is planning on running for real he would have to join as an independent - not Kanye West though - he has decided to start his own party called the Birthday Party. He said he has never voted before and he doesn’t seem to believe in vaccines. He said he is cautious for the vaccine that will come out to fight COVID. He did say there is one thing he knows for sure and that is that he is going to win. 

Lady A, formerly known as Lady Antebellum have filed a lawsuit against Anita White who goes by the name Lady A. Originally when Lady A changed their name they said they had a conversation with Anita White about sharing the name and had come to an agreement. But this didn’t seem to be an agreement for long. The group Lady A released a statement saying that Anita demanded a 10 million dollar settlement in order to use the name so now they are heading to court to confirm their right to continue to use it. They said they aren’t trying to take the name away from her but share it and aren’t looking for money. Lady A originally dropped Antebellum since it has ties to slavery and after reflecting with the BLM movement they changed it to be more inclusive. (Lady A's Full Statement)

Billie Eilish is the first to say that she had an obsession with Justin Bieber when she was younger - so much so that her parents said they almost brought her to a therapist because it was getting a bit out of control - her mom explained that if they put on the song AS LONG AS YOU LOVE ME in the car she would look back and billie would just be SOBBING - so they thought - okay maybe she needs a little professional help - Billie and Justin are friends now and have now even collabed on a version of her song Bad Guy together.

Kanye West announced that he is running for president. He tweeted saying “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States.” He used the hashtag #2020Vision but it wouldn’t exactly make sense for him to run in this election race since it’s only four months away. He would have to register as an Independent since he wouldn’t be able to replace Trump as the Republican nominee or Joe Biden as Democrat. The deadline to register for an independent has already been passed in at least nine states. He has mentioned in the past that he is planning on running in 2024 so that could be his plan at this time. He has already been backed by Elon Musk who tweeted saying “You have my full support” and it seems like Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian is on board with the idea as well because she tweeted an American flag.

BlackPink’s music video for "How You Like That" earned 86.3 million views on the day it came out, enough to set records for most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours, most viewed music video on YouTube in 24 hours, and most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group. The record was previously held by BTS and Halsey for their song “Boy with Luv” that came out in April of 2019. ‘How You Like That’ has also earned the most views during a premiere at 1.66 million.

Kacey Musgraves and her husband Ruston Kelly have announced that they are getting a divorce after two years of marriage. Fans have been speculating that this was happening since January when the two of them started deleting photos of each other from their Instagram accounts and back in November when Ruston wasn’t at the 2019 CMA Awards and Kacey didn’t thank him when accepting her two awards. They released a statement to the Associated Press where they said, “We’ve made this painful decision together - a healthy decision that comes after a very long period of trying the best we can. It simply just didn’t work. Though we are parting ways in marriage, we will remain true friends for the rest of our lives. We hold no blame, anger, or contempt for each other and we ask for privacy and positive wishes for us both as we learn how to navigate through this.”

DaBaby thought it would be a fun idea to perform in front of a crowd in Georgia, where COVID cases have been surging lately. There are videos from the night with no social distancing in sight and hardly anyone wearing a mask. There was apparently a no mask, no entry policy in place for the show as well as temperature checks before people entered but it doesn’t seem like it was enforced.

Jason Rockman caught up with Grey Daze's Sean Dowdell ahead of the release of the band's upcoming album 'Amends', which features the vocals of the late Chester Bennington. 

Grey Daze was a project Chester Bennington worked on before joining Linkin Park. 

Shawn explains that Grey Daze was wrongfully erased from history, and that the band was very important to Chester.

Sean Dowdell reminisces with Jason about the legacy Chester forged with both bands, and how Grey Daze sought to create an album that served as an homage to Chester's lyrical mastery, while also offering fans some closure.

Sean shares how he's excited for fans to interact with the sights and sounds of the album. 

Sean also reveals that he believes that the title 'Amends' is an apt title, because if Chester had have survived his tragic death, it is what he would have wanted to do.

Grey Daze's Sean Dowdell explains that extensive thought and production has been put into making the album something that stands out and highlights the impact Chester had on the rock and roll community. He also shares that Head and Monkey, members of band KoRn, were eager to play on the new album as they wanted to pay tribute to the creative genius that Chester Bennington was.

Country Singer Chase Rice decided it would be a good idea to host a concert for thousands of fans over the weekend in Tennessee with no social distancing or masks in sight - and also decided to post about it on social media. 

Among his vocal critics was Kelsea Ballerini, who tweeted: 

“Imagine being selfish enough to put thousands of people’s health at risk, not to mention the potential ripple effect, and play a NORMAL country concert right now. ChaseRiceMusic, We all want (and need) to tour. We just care about our fans and their families enough to wait.”  

We are getting a visual album from Beyoncé called “Black Is King” inspired by the Lion King remake. The album is coming one year after the release of the movie and is going to be available to stream on Disney Plus.

A one minute trailer was released over the weekend teasing what we can expect from it. The film is going to feature artists like Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, Blue Ivy, and our own Canadian Jessie Reyez. “Black Is King,” written, directed and executive produced by Beyoncé, will premiere globally on Disney Plus on July 31, 2020.

Ariana Grande celebrated her birthday with a Midsommar themed birthday party. Her party was full of flower crowns and friends and was even approved by Florence Pugh who said “Happy birthday sweetheart, you can have the May Queen title today.”  

Justin Bieber is now reportedly suing the two women who accused him of sexual assault on Twitter. 

Fans are wanting a new album from Adele badly so when she posted a throwback photo of her performing at Glastonbury from 2016 on her Instagram, fans thought it was a hint that new music was coming. 

Turns out it wasn’t and Adele just wanted to share a fun memory - she responded to a comment asking if there was new music on the way saying,

 

“Of course it’s not. Corona ain’t over. I’m quarantining. Wear a mask and be patient.”

 

Adele also shared a few photos of her at home, with the same dress on that she wore at that festival.

Miley Cyrus has revealed that she is six months sober. She explained that it’s been tough especially since there is so much stigma about it and because she is still so young. She said the reason she wanted to become sober is because she knows her family deals with a history of addiction and mental health challenges. She said by understanding the past we understand the present and the future much more clearly. She also added it helps her not feel groggy in the morning and also helps with anxiety. 

We are reaching the end of Pride month which feels weird - typically by this time of the month I’m exhausted from dancing and usually still have glitter in my hair. Even though we might not be able to celebrate pride together in person this year - there is a big virtual event taking place called Can’t Cancel Pride with so many artists getting involved. People like Adam Lambert, Billy Porter, Sia and Katy Perry! 

The event is hoping to raise money for the LGBTQ+ community that has been affected by the pandemic. LGBTQ+ people are more likely to work in industries highly affected by quarantine restrictions; they’re less likely than the general population to have health insurance in the states and they’re more likely to experience poverty so events like this are so so important. The fact that the Supreme Court in America JUST passed a law not allowing people to discriminate against members of the LGBTQ+ community proves that we have so much more to do.

Demi Lovato and her boyfriend Max Ehrich have come a long way since the beginning of quarantine. They were hiding the fact that they were quarantine-ing together - not very well - and now they are putting it all out there - Demi posted a plethora of photos of the two of them celebrating max’s 29th birthday and a lengthy caption saying

And she looks like she has a good chance of winning too for best R&B/pop although Beyonce is in that category and she has won this award 10 times, including the the last 6 years in a row. There are two women who are making sexual assault allegations against Justin Bieber. 

A twitter user who goes by the name Danielle said that she was taken advantage of by Justin Bieber on March 9th 2014 while he was in Houston with his then girlfriend Selena Gomez. She alleged that she had been introduced to Bieber at an after party when he invited them to the Four Seasons hotel he was staying at. She claimed she ended up alone in a hotel room with Justin where they started to kiss which then escalated into a lot more. She said he then forced her to take part in sexual acts without her consent. 

Since Danielle made her post on Twitter another woman named Kadi has come forward with her own post alleging that she had been sexually assaulted by Justin Bieber on May 4th 2015 - She claimed she had gone to Justin’s hotel since she was a fan of his and was hoping for a photo. She alleged that around 230 in the morning she was invited into Justin’s hotel room with several other girls. She said he followed her into the hotel washroom, locking the door and began touching and kissing her. She alleged that he then proceeded to have sex with her even after she had said no. 

Justin responded denying the allegations with many tweets going back to the March 9th 2014 accusations, proving that he was with Selena Gomez that night and also staying at an AirBNB and then a Westin, never at a four seasons. He showed confirmation from the AirBNB as well as an email the following night showing they ended up at the Westin. He finished off his tweets by saying: 

"Every claim of sexual abuse should be taken very seriously and this is why my response was needed. However this story is factually impossible and that is why I will be working with twitter and authorities to take legal action." (1:12)

When it comes to the story from Kadi, fans have claimed with photo evidence that Justin was in LA at the time of the supposed incident. Danielle has since deleted her account.

When you start to run out of room on your face to tattoo - it makes sense to shave your head and keep going right? That’s what Post Malone did. He shared a photo on Instagram showing his newly shaved head and the new skeleton tattoo he is getting.

A survey by the lingerie brand Pour Moi - figured out that The Weeknd takes the top spot of artists people like to get busy to... which isn’t the most surprising because his songs are the perfect mood setter. Other artists that made the list are Trey Songz, Usher, Beyonce and Rihanna.

TikTok users and and Kpop fans claimed to have trolled Trump hard over the weekend by registering to attend his rally in Oklahoma and then not showing up - that meant that only about 62 hundred people attended in an arena that was meant to sit over 19 thousand - the trump campaign announced that supporters could get free tickets just by registering on their phones so Kpop fans and TikTok users shared the information telling others to register and not go.

Halsey has launched a fund to help Black Creators share their work with the world. 

She put a call out for creators to share their art, poetry, graphic design, films, music, journalism, make-up, and more. She wants to help fund them achieve their goals so if you know of anyone who is deserving of some recognition, use the hashtag #BlackCreatorsFund for Halsey to see. 

The issue of racial injustice hits home for Halsey who is biracial and she has been doing a lot since the death of George Floyd. Whether it’s sharing information about the movement or standing at the frontlines of protests she has been showing a lot of love and support. 

Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox have made it instagram official! And you know you’re not really dating unless it’s on Instagram. MGK posted a photo on his story of him on a blanket with roses and sushi with the caption “In Love” You can even see part of Megan in another photo. 

We know that the pandemic is going to change the live music industry as a whole but it could be going one step further than that. Live Nation is trying to renegotiate the terms for thousands of shows postponed to 2021, including more than 100 festivals around the world. 

They are trying to change the business model as a whole in ways that would make everything more risky for agents and artists. They released a memo where they explained that if you hope to move forward there are certain changes that need to be made with the artists. Things like across the board pay cuts, rules such as if a show is cancelled because of poor ticket sales, the artist will receive 25 percent of the guarantee. This would change from the promoters paying 100 percent of an artist fee if a show gets cancelled. If an artist cancels their appearance they have to pay two times the artist’s fee.

People are calling for the Dixie Chicks to change their group name. After Lady Antebellum changed their name to Lady A after the word’s ties to slavery, people want to see the Dixie Chicks do the same. The term Dixie is described as “a celebration of Southern tradition that is has roots to Black slaves and plantations where they were forced to work for free”. It is also used as a popular nickname for  the confederate states in the south. The Dixie Chicks have yet to comment about this.

We might not be able to celebrate pride together in person this year but there is a virtual event taking place that is helping make up for that. A bunch of artists will be performing for an LGBTQ COVID benefit show called CAN’T CANCEL PRIDE. iHeartRadio and Proctor and Gamble are putting it on with artist performing virtually like Katy Perry, Billy Porter, Adam Lambert, Sia and Ricky Martin. They are hoping to raise funds for LGBTQ communities that are impacted by the pandemic.
