Many artists have spoken out against the lack of charges towards the police officers involved in the death of Breonna Taylor, the 26 year old EMT who was killed by police on March 13th.  

Former detective Brett Hankison who was fired in June, now faces three counts of first degree wanton endangerment which is described as engaging in conduct which creates a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to another person which is due the fact that he shot into three apartments close to Breonna’s. The other two officers were not indicted. 

Alicia Keys responded to the news with a tweet saying “This is is a PRIME example of Rotten to the CORE!!! UnJust!!!! Disrespectful and BLATANT DISREGARD!!!! Infuriated!!!!!!!”

Rolling Stone has updated their list of top 500 best albums of all time. 

They originally came out with the list back in 2003 and they changed it up in 2012 but besides that it’s pretty much stayed the same…until now. They have re-released the list from scratch and of course it is causing some debates. There are 154 albums that have been added to the list including Billie Eilish’s 'when we all fall asleep where do we go' at number 397, Adele's 21 which made it on the list at 137, several albums from Taylor Swift and Drake made the list including 'Take Care' which made it to number 95. 

Beyoncé showed up a couple times at number 81 for her Self Titled album and 32 for Lemonade. Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" replaced the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" in the top spot. 

The Billboard Music Award nominations have come out and Post Malone is leading the pack with 16 nominations followed by Lil Nas X who has 13.

Kelly Clarkson is hosting the show and it’s taking place on October 14th.

BTS is doing something big with Fortnite! They are debuting a never before seen choreography version of their Dynamite video specifically inside Fortnite this week. The video is going to premiere in the game on September 25th at 8pm Eastern. You’ll have to jump into Party Royale and then head to the main stage in order to watch which is where other artists have put on shows before like Diplo, Marshmello and Travis Scott. Travis got the record for the most viewers with 12.3 million and if anyone can beat that number it’s BTS.

Zendaya made a record last night by being the youngest person to win an Emmy as best actress in a drama series. She won for her role as Rue in the show Euphoria. She said Hope is in the Young people during her speech which could not be more true. And afterwards she posted on her instagram story, reflecting on the night and said “still on cloud nine. So grateful, still speechless, to all my family who have texted, tweeted, called etc. I promise I will get back to you tomorrow when I’ve wrapped my head around this amazing night. Until then gonna go to sleep and make sure this isn't a dream.”

H.E.R. gave a memorable performance during The Emmy’s last night covering Prince’s 1985 track “Nothing Compares 2 U” for the show’s “In Memoriam” segment.

Not only are we getting Harry Styles in a movie called “Don't Worry Darling” with Florence Hugh directed by Olivia Wilde, but there is word that he could be starring alongside Lily James in an adaptation of the book ‘My Policeman’ that would stream on Amazon Prime Video. The story takes place in the 1950s and is follows a gay police officer, who would be played by Harry who married a woman despite his love for another man.

Cardi B opened up about why she chose to file for divorce against her husband Offset. She explained while on Instagram live that she is doing okay and has not shed a single tear over the situation. She said there was no cheating involved but she was just tired of arguing all the time. She said her and Offset didn’t see eye to eye and said they grew apart. She has since started an instagram account for her 2 year old daughter Kulture that has already gained over half a million followers in the first day. Katy Perry got a temporary restraining order against a man who allegedly kept showing up and trespassing on her property. She wrote in the filing that he made physical attempts to enter into her home and also threatened her fiancé Orlando Bloom by saying he would snap his neck. Luckily the restraining order was granted against Katy, Orlando, Orlando’s 9 year old son Flynn and their newborn baby Daisy. 

Taylor Swift has had her fair share of stalkers thought out her career - and there is a man who just received a jail sentence for stalker Taylor - he is going to prison for 30 months and pleaded guilty to stalking and sending threatening letters and emails to Taylor’s former record label - he sent over 40 letters that became violent and threatening and he even drove to Nashville on several occasions to deliver the letters in person. 

In lighter Taylor Swift news, Taylor revisited her country roots by performing at the Academy of Country Music Awards. She had a stunning performance of her song Betty that was shot from the Grand Ol' Opry in Nashville.

Kanye West has been tweeting about wanting to leave his record label. He expressed that he wanted to buy back his masters and then even tweeted out some images of what he claimed to be 10 recording contracts between him and the label, and asked lawyers to have a look at it. 

He called on other artists to back up his frustrations like Bono, Paul McCartney, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift. 

His texts are difficult to navigate and full comprehend but amongst the tweets is also a video of him urinating on his Grammy that he placed in the toilet. 

This isn’t the first time Kanye has gone on a twitter rant or said bizarre things and now Twitter is giving him a time out. According to Twitter, Kanye violated the platform's terms of service and the platform disabled his account for 12 hours after he shared the phone number for Forbes Editor and chief content officer Randall Lane. 

If Kanye violates the terms of service again, he could have his account permanently suspended. 

Dan + Shay say it was a tremendous honour for Jungkook from BTS to do a cover of their song 10 Thousand Hours - they recently did an interview with eTalk on CTV and explained that they are big fans of BTS and said they are flattered to have such a mega star cover their song and put all of that work into it. They then added that they hope one day they can get a Dan + Shay/ BTS collaboration!

Kelly Clarkson opened up about her divorce in a recent interview with Sunday Today. She got very candid and said her life has been a bit of a dumpster and admitted that the last couple months have been rough. She said “I’ve been talking to friends that have been through divorce," she said. "I don’t know how people go through that without having some kind of outlet because it is the worst thing ever for everyone involved." Kelly and Brandon Blackstock, who is the nephew of Reba Macentire were married for 7 years and had two children together. Kelly was also raising Brandon’s two children from a previous marriage. 

Taylor Swift is going to be performing her song “Betty” on the Academy of Country Music Awards telecast on Wednesday. This is going to be her first time performing on any country awards show in seven years. She is going to be performing on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry - one of the most iconic venues in Nashville.

Harry Styles is going to be starring in a movie! The film is called DON'T WORRY DARLING and it is set in the 1950s in the California desert. Harry is going to be acting along side Florence Pugh and the movie is being directed by Olivia Wilde the actress who last directed the movie Book Smart.

#ShawnMendes announced that he is going to be performing next week during the #TIFF20 Tribute Awards. With it he is celebrating the launch of the Shawn Mendes Foundation Changemaker Award which includes a $10,000 prize for a film at TIFF that “tackles issues of social change”. 

The 2020 TIFF Tribute Awards is taking place on September 15th at 8pm EST and is hosted by Chloe Wilde and Tyrone Edwards of eTalk on CTV.

Over a decade after it took place Kanye is explaining why he went on stage at the VMAs to interrupt Taylor Swift when she was accepting the award for best video of the year. In an interview with Nick Cannon for his podcast he explained that God told him to do it -He said  “If God ain’t want me to run onstage and say Beyoncé had the best video, he wouldn’t have sat me in the front row.” 

Charli XCX had to get court ordered protection from a man who not only broke into her house but also got naked while he did it. She claims that he tried twice to visit her in her LA home from Wisconsin just in the last week and the second time he was successful, where he then stripped down to get into her hot tub and walked in and out of her bedroom. 

She said that he had sent her hundreds of disturbing messages online before he did eventually show up in person. Luckily she wasn’t at home at the time but caught him on her security camera and isn’t taking any chances, filing for a temporary restraining order against him.

Beyonce is showing her love for new fellow mom, Katy Perry - by sending her a big bouquet of flowers in the mail congratulating her and Orlando Bloom on the birth of their new baby girl. Katy posted a photo of the bouquet on her Instagram Story with a note that said "Congratulations on the new addition to your family!” Imagine giving birth to your first child which is a life changing moment and then also getting a present from Beyonce in the mail - honestly I don’t know which one I would be more excited about.

The 2020 MTV #VMAs were on last night and Lady Gaga won 5 including Artist of the Year and Song of the Year! Gaga is also the first recipient of the TRICON award, which goes to someone being acknowledged for being an icon for over three decades. 

In true Gaga fashion she came out on stage in a new outfit every time while sporting a different mask. 

There were some amazing performances from Miley Cyrus,  this time swinging from a disco ball, Doja Cat who performed her song 'Say So' as well bringing home the moon person for Best New Artist!

Ariana Grande- who joined Gaga on stage for 'Rain on Me', who also scored herself 3 awards. Canada's The Weeknd took home Video of the Year and Best R&B Video. 

Bella Thorne is facing a lot of heat and has issued an apology to OnlyFans users after facing backlash from other users and subscribers. She made her debut on the subscription based website, breaking a record - earning $1 million dollars (USD) in her first day and reportedly bringing in more than $2 million overall. 

Many of the people who subscribed are requesting refunds since they claimed she didn’t hold up her end of the bargain by not posting a full nude photo like she allegedly advertised. 

During the Controversy, OnlyFans quietly issued a $50 cap on pay per view messages and a $100 cap on tips, without warning or announcing any policy changes. OnlyFans also reportedly extended the timeline for payouts from seven days to 30 days in some countries. Many believe this change was due to the Bella situation although they made a statement saying “We can confirm that any changes to transaction limits are not based on any one user.”

Bella apologized with a number of tweets saying, 

“I wanted to bring attention to the site, the more people on the site the more likely of a chance to normalize the stigmas, And in trying to do this I hurt you.  I have risked my career a few times to remove the stigma behind sex work, porn, and the natural hatred people spew..

...I am a mainstream face and when you have a voice, a platform, you try to use you in helping others and advocate for something bigger than yourself. Again in this process I hurt you and for that I’m truly sorry."

Bella claims that she joined OnlyFans as part of a promotion for a new movie with Sean Baker, who directed The Florida Project. Sean is claiming this is not actually the case, setting the record straight saying, 

“I would like to make it clear that the news of me making a film (documentary or fiction narrative) about OnlyFans and using Bella Thorne as research is false. I’m NOT attached to this project. I’m actually in development on two features that I’ve put years of research and love in to and neither of these films have anything to do with Ms. Thorne or Onlyfans.” 

We found out over the weekend that actor Chadwick Boseman passed away after his long battle with colon cancer at the age of 43. The star of Black Panther was diagnosed in 2016 but it was not public knowledge. 

Keke Palmer who was hosting the VMAs opened the show by dedicating it to him saying “He is a true hero, not just on screen but in everything he did. His impact lives forever." The Black Panther Soundtrack was also loved by many, and was nominated for multiple GRAMMYs.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom welcomed their baby girl into the world with a beautiful photo of all of their hands. They announced that her name is Daisy Dove Bloom.  #DaisyDoveBloom

But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was. They set up a donation page for people to donate money to celebrate the arrival of their daughter and in order to ensure that more mothers have access to quality healthcare and reimagining a healthier world for every child.

Britney Spears’ younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears took a step last week to protect the pop star’s assets. Jamie Lynn, the trustee of Britney’s estate, is asking a court to approve the transfer of Britney’s financial assets into accounts managed by Fidelity Brokerage Services. Britney created the SJB Revocable Trust in 2004 with herself as sole beneficiary. In 2018, she amended it so that if she dies, Jamie Lynn would administer the estate for Britney’s sons Sean and Jayden. It is not clear from the filing if Jamie Lynn is seeking to move the assets to the brokerage company now or upon her sister’s death. Different performers are going to be set up around New York City and a sound stage in LA and they are going to cut between them during the show. Because of the pandemic it will definitely still be a show we are going to remember.

Miley Cyrus has sadly lost her beloved Grandmother. She posted a touching tribute on Instagram that read: "Even though you are gone.... NOTHING has or ever will change. You will FOREVER be my inspiration and fashion icon. Even more than that, the ultimate model of being a true LIGHT in a dark world. You are sunshine. Everyday I wake and see that fiery ball in the sky I will see your face. Then say a prayer thanking heaven above for giving me the best grandmother a girl could ever be gifted. I will miss you for the rest of my life.... I will keep your spirit here by continuing to do good for others and treating them the way we all desire to be treated. With an infinite amount of the same gentle kindness you displayed daily. We will ache everyday you are not with us...."

BTS has set a brand new YouTube record. They once again have the record for the most amount of views on a music video in the first 24 hours on YouTube. “Dynamite” came out on Friday and in the first day brought in 101.1 million views which took over BLACKPINK’s previous record for “How You Like That” which hit 86.3 million just a few months ago. It becomes the first music video to top 100 million views in one day, which if anyone was going to do it it’s BTS. That BTS army knows how to get things done. 

Taylor Swift’s new album Folklore has become the first album by a female artist to spend its first four weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200 since Adele came out with her album 25 back in 2015. 

This is a huge accomplishment for Taylor Swift, especially since there was no promotion leading up to the release of the album and it was her second album to come out in just one year. Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the release of her last album Lover which also had major success. Taylor Swift is just on another level when it comes to creating and releasing music and we love her for it.

 

Harry Styles has joined the ranks of just 5 people who now have had a number one song in the US that didn’t hit number one in the UK with his song Watermelon Sugar. The others who have done the same are Charli XCX, Jay Sean, Seal and Adele.

We are getting a brand new song from BTS dropping tomorrow! 

The song is called Dynamite and is actually the first song from theirs to be completely sung in English. They released a very quick teaser on YouTube which of course has blown up, currently at over 44 million views in just 2 days so you know the second this song comes out it is going to be huge. It’s dropping at midnight EST. 

Megan Thee Stallion wanted to prove to anyone who didn’t believe she is a victim of gunshot wounds by posting photos of her injured foot on her Instagram. With the graphic photos that are now deleted, she captioned it saying,

“Lol what I have learned abt majority of the people on social media is y’all like to hear bad news before good news, a lie spreads quicker than the truth, and y’all really be believing the sh– YALL make up, I got hit at the back of my feet because when I got shot I was WALKING AWAY FACING THE BACK. why would I lie abt getting shot? Why are y’all so upset that I don’t wanna be in the bed sad? Why y’all upset that I can walk ? I got my stitches out my feet like 2 weeks ago.”

The rumours started after Megan was at a club in Atlanta on Monday night with a bandaged foot.

Niall Horan shared a gruesome photo of his black and blue ankle on his instagram story, an injury that he got about about 6 pints, that ended up tearing ligaments in his foot. 

He was on Ashe’s Instagram Live and explained that he was running drunk and missed a curb. He originally didn’t think it was as serious of an injury as it was but after seeking medical treatment he was relieved when the doctor told him he had no broken bones, just torn ligaments.

Many artists like  Rihanna, Shawn Mendes, Billie Eilish and Megan Thee Stallion are coming together to show their support for California’s new police reform legislation. There is a petition that has been signed by hundreds of celebrities that is urging the state to approve two bills that address police accountability.

Britney Spears went to court to try and get father removed from the conservatorship arrangement that was put in place back in 2008. Around that time Britney had suffered from a mental breakdown, you may remember the period where she shaved her head and was making headlines for making some questionable decisions. 

Her father then became in control of everything from her finances to helping her make any big career decisions. Since then many believe that Britney is more than willing and capable of now taking back that control and believe that she is being controlled against her will. This has sparked the #FreeBritney movement. And Britney seems to agree since she was in court just yesterday trying to have her father removed from the arrangement that was made 12 years ago. 

Jamie, Britney’s dad stepped aside temporarily due to health issues last year and was replaced by Jodi Montgomery, an independent professional conservator. The conservatorship is up for extension on August 22 and Britney and her lawyer were looking to have Montgomery take over full time since she is more qualified. But this did not end up happening. It turns out that nothing has changed after this court hearing and Jamie still remains in the title. 

According to TMZ, certain legal documents need to be filed before her issues go before a judge, which has yet to happen. This doesn’t mean things can’t change in the future, but right now everything is the same.
