  • Final Picture Show Podcast Ep 11: Blood of Heroes (1989)

Mister Narrator! this is Bob Dylan to me, this movie could be your life...if your life was walking and post-apocalyptic rugby. Scientist rock it is not. But a fun movie it is. Come along as we talk about our favorite Halloween memories, whatever trunk or treating is, the fantastic sport of Juggering, the best of Rutger Hauer, and how freaking awesome of a movie this is--and maybe one of the only sports focused post-apocalyptic movies ever made.

  • Final Picture Show Podcast Ep 9: The Omega Man (1971)

  • Final Picture Show Podcast Ep 8: Clerks TV Show (1995)

Were not even supposed to be here today! This week we take a break and do something completely different as we look at a different kind of apocalyptic tale, from the dark depths of 1995 comes the lost TV pilot, and thankfully the only episode, of not Kevin Smith’s Clerks. Join along as we talk about found memories of Kevin Smith movies, late night insomnia, how this pilot came to exist and why it needed to die, and end this little bonus episode by having AI take their hand at crafting an episode of Clerks. The horribleness and the awfulness of it will never actually be forgotten. Next episode we return to the end of the world with Omega Man (1971) staring podcast hall of famer: Charlie Heston.

  • Final Picture Show Podcast Ep 7: Last Man on Earth (1964)

This week we think we’re alone, there does not seem to be anyone around—except Morgan and his rag tag bunch of nobodies as we watch, or rather suffer, through Last Man On Earth. We discuss a range of topics from: what we want out of Book adaptations, nostalgia of physical media buying from bankrupt stores, neo-realism, flashbacks—and why maybe you should avoid boring narration for the first half of your movie. We disagree for the first time. Listen in and let us know is this movie a cult classic or a boring slog of a movie that is badly made?

This week we get right into all elements of the film: the strong year that 1998 was movies, our love of Pain and Gain, the temporal impossibilities this movie presents, space dementia, paying to see Billy Bob play live, and why this movie is awful but good at the same time. We call that a f------ paradox. This is essential 90s viewing!

  • Final Picture Show Podcast Ep 2: Battlefield Earth (2000)

Disco fever’ Disco fever, yeah yea yea—we got that disco fever, join us in what was a lost episode as we delve into the world of Sci-fi legend L. Ron Hubbard as we, simple humans, look at the John Travolta led disaster of a film Battlefield Earth. We will look at the movie itself, the lore surrounding it getting made, what it was supposed to be—how badly it bombed, late night cinemax from the 90s, and if the film is actually that bad, and how Tarantino could have saved the day. The audio was really bad for this episode as the software decided to record a different mic then intended. It’s not the best, but it only gets better from here!
