Amie Robison, a.k.a. The Pond Lady, currently works alongside her husband at Robison Wildlife Solutions doing nuisance wildlife control and pond consulting. To say that she has followed an interesting path to get to this point would be underselling it. In this episode we hear just a few of her stories, from doing fisheries fieldwork with her mother to stocking Tiger Muskie in Oklahoma, working with private pond owners to rescuing four mini-pigs. Ellie Weise is finishing her master's work at Michigan State University. She has been developing genomic and computational tools to assess populations within an adaptive management framework, specifically focusing on the use of effective population size estimates and pedigree reconstruction to assess sea lamprey spawning populations. We discuss what exactly she is doing and how that information can be used to help manage invasive Sea Lamprey in the Great Lakes. Ellie also works in outreach as a writer and co-host of the science comedy podcast 'An Everyday Dissection.' We talk about her podcast and some of the episode topics and where to find it, as well as some of Ellie's other science outreach experience.
