  • TREAD TALKS: Get Out of Your Own Way

The Plan in the Binder Doesn't Count: How to Finally Launch Your Business

You've finished the business plan. You know exactly who you want to help. So why haven't you told anyone you're starting?

In this episode of Tread Talks, I answer a coaching question that almost every entrepreneur faces at the beginning of their journey: fear of putting themselves out there.

Starting a business is vulnerable. It's easy to keep tweaking the plan, waiting for the perfect moment, or convincing yourself you need one more course, one more strategy, or one more month before you're ready.

But a business plan sitting in a binder or hidden in a folder on your laptop doesn't build a business.

Drawing on a lesson from coaching new gym members, I explain why momentum begins with one small action—not one giant leap—and how a simple beta launch can help you move from planning to actually serving people.

    In this episode:

    • Why launching a business feels so vulnerable
    • The real reason entrepreneurs delay starting
    • Why perfect execution doesn't exist
    • How a soft launch builds confidence and momentum
    • One practical step you can take today

Your One Tip: Don't launch to everyone. Start with five people. Test your idea, gather feedback, and build confidence one conversation at a time.

  • Your Body's Talking. Are You Listening? Burnout, Boundaries & Executive Wellbeing

Burnout doesn't always look like falling apart.

Sometimes it looks like keeping up.

In this episode of The Fitness of Business, I'm joined by pharmacist, executive wellbeing strategist, and leadership consultant Dr. Jamie Hardy to talk about something too many entrepreneurs and leaders ignore until their bodies force the conversation.

After what she believed was a heart attack sent her to the emergency room, Dr. Jamie completely changed how she approached leadership, performance, and wellbeing. Today she helps organizations create cultures where leaders can thrive, not just survive.

    In this conversation we discuss:

    • Why burnout often hides behind high performance
    • The warning signs your body may already be sending you
    • Why recovery is a business strategy—not a reward
    • Setting boundaries without sacrificing success

  • TREAD TALKS: Your Business Doesn't Need Everything At Once

Why Your Business Doesn't Need Everything at Once

If you're building a business with a huge vision, this episode is for you.

It's easy to become overwhelmed when your goals include multiple offers, locations, revenue streams, and big dreams. But trying to build everything at once is often the fastest path to burnout—not sustainable growth.

Book a free chat with me here: https://calendly.com/lbconsultingco/30min

In this episode of Tread Talks, I answer a real coaching question from a startup founder who felt frozen by the size of her vision. Drawing from my years as a CrossFit gym owner and business coach, I explain why successful businesses are built the same way strength is built in the gym: one intentional rep at a time.

You'll learn why trying to "load the bar" too quickly can stall your progress, and how creating one simple daily habit can move your business forward without the overwhelm.

    In this episode:

    • Why big visions often create decision paralysis
    • The startup mistake that keeps entrepreneurs stuck
    • How to break long-term goals into manageable daily actions
    • Why consistency beats intensity in business growth
    • A practical coaching exercise you can implement today

Your One Tip: Write down all of your long-term business goals. Then choose just one and create a daily recurring task that supports it. Once that habit becomes automatic, add the next one.

  • TREAD TALKS: Do Less. But, Do It Better
You're Doing Too Many Things (And It's Slowing You Down)

As entrepreneurs, it's easy to believe that growth comes from doing more.

More platforms. More tools. More content. More marketing.

But what if the real answer is doing less?

Book a discovery call with me! 🌐 https://www.leslieboyce.com

In this episode of The Fitness of Business Podcast, I share a powerful insight from my conversation with chronic disorganization specialist Janice Rostron about why so many business owners feel overwhelmed—and how simplifying your strategy can create better results.

Just like someone who switches workout programs every few weeks never gives their body enough time to adapt, entrepreneurs often abandon strategies before they have a chance to work.

The problem isn't usually a lack of effort.

    It's a lack of focus.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    • Why doing more isn't always the path to growth
    • How constant switching creates overwhelm and inconsistency
    • The connection between focus and business momentum
    • A simple exercise to identify what's actually working in your business
    • How to eliminate distractions and make clearer decisions
    Your One Tip:

List every platform, channel, and marketing activity you're currently trying to maintain. Then ask yourself: which one is actually producing results? Focus there first.

🎙 Listen now and discover how doing fewer things can help you make greater progress.

  • Money Metrics That Matter | with Lauren Schoenfeld (Part 2)

Stop Guessing: The 7 Numbers Every Business Owner Should Track | with Lauren Schoenfeld (Part 2)

Do you make business decisions based on facts—or feelings?

Many entrepreneurs avoid their numbers because they feel overwhelmed, intimidated, or unsure what they're even looking at. But when you stop measuring what matters, it's easy to make decisions from stress instead of strategy.

In this episode of The Fitness of Business, I continue with Lauren Schoenfeld, Founder and CEO of Active Core Consulting, to discuss the seven key performance indicators (KPIs) every business owner should understand.

    We explore:

    • Why financial literacy is a leadership skill
    • The hidden cost of avoiding your numbers
    • How to use data to make better business decisions
    • The 7 KPIs that reveal what's really happening in your business
    • How to move from operator to CEO thinking
    • Why "Metric Monday" might be the simplest habit that transforms your business

Whether you run a fitness studio, a service-based business, or any growing company, this conversation will help you replace uncertainty with clarity and confidence.

Because your numbers aren't judging you.

    They're simply telling a story.

  • TREAD TALKS: Stop Dog Paddling
Build Your Business With Intention, Not Trends | with Brittany Woitas

As entrepreneurs, it's easy to mistake motion for progress.

A new platform. A new marketing tactic. A new content format. A new tool everyone says you need.

Before long, you're working harder than ever—but feeling like you're getting nowhere.

In this episode, I share a powerful clip from my conversation with Brittany Woitas, founder of Kovly Studio, a boutique brand and marketing agency that helps businesses build intentional, sustainable growth strategies.

Brittany describes what happens when business owners stop chasing every trend and start making decisions with purpose. Instead of constantly reacting, they begin building businesses that align with their goals, values, and long-term vision.

This conversation explores the difference between being busy and being strategic, why simplicity is often more powerful than complexity, and how intentional business growth creates better results than constantly chasing the next shiny object.

    In this episode:

    • Why entrepreneurs get stuck chasing trends
    • The hidden cost of constantly pivoting
    • How to build a sustainable business strategy
    • The difference between activity and progress
    • Why intentionality creates better long-term results
    • Avoiding overwhelm in marketing and business growth
    • Creating systems that work even when motivation fades

    Your One Tip:
Before you add anything new to your strategy this week—a platform, a tool, or a content format—ask yourself: Is this intentional, or am I simply reacting to something I saw? If you can't answer clearly, don't add it yet.

    Two ways to go deeper:

  • Money Mindset, Metrics & How We Define Success | with Lauren Schoenfeld (Part 1)

Most business owners think they have a numbers problem.

But often, they actually have a mindset problem.

In this episode, I sit down with Lauren Schoenfeld, founder and CEO of Active Core Consulting, to talk about the hidden beliefs that shape how entrepreneurs think about money, success, pricing, growth, and self-worth.

We explore why so many business owners avoid looking at their financials, how childhood experiences influence our relationship with money, and why your profit and loss statement is not a report card on your value as a person.

Lauren shares her journey from corporate finance at Equinox and WeWork to helping boutique fitness and wellness businesses build sustainable, profitable companies. We also discuss hustle culture, underpricing, defining success on your own terms, and how financial data can become a tool for clarity instead of stress.

If you've ever felt overwhelmed by your numbers, questioned your pricing, or tied your self-worth to your business performance, this conversation is for you.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • Why business owners avoid their financials
    • The connection between money mindset and business growth
    • How childhood experiences shape financial decisions
    • Why your P&L tells a story—not your worth
    • The dangers of underpricing your services
    • Redefining success beyond revenue
    • Escaping hustle culture and burnout
    • Building a sustainable business without sacrificing yourself

  • TREAD TALKS: You Built It. Now Trust It.

Get Out of Your Own Way: The Leadership Shift Every Business Owner Must Make

At some point, every coach has to stop coaching.

Not forever—but long enough to let the athlete do the work.

The same is true in business.

As entrepreneurs, we spend years building systems, training employees, creating processes, and solving problems. Then, when it's time to trust those systems, we jump right back in and start doing everything ourselves again.

In this episode, I share a powerful clip from my conversation with Hannah Ulbrich, founder of Copper Door Coffee, a multi-location coffee roasting company. Hannah recounts a moment when an employee told her something many business owners desperately need to hear:

"You're in your own way. Get out of your own way."

We talk about why letting go feels so uncomfortable, how micromanagement can quietly sabotage growth, and why leadership often requires stepping back instead of stepping in.

If you're struggling to delegate, trust your team, or stop being the bottleneck in your business, this episode is for you.

    In this episode:

    • Why entrepreneurs become accidental bottlenecks
    • The difference between supporting a system and controlling it
    • How micromanagement limits business growth
    • Learning to trust the people and processes you've built
    • A practical exercise to identify what still depends on you unnecessarily
    • The leadership skill of stepping back

    Your One Tip:

Identify one thing in your business that only runs through you—and shouldn't. This week, document it. Not to hand it off yet. Just to see it clearly. Awareness is the first step toward freedom.

If you're in the Denver area, join us for Stronger Together in the week of June 15. Stronger Together is a local community for entrepreneurs who want honest conversations, meaningful connections, and practical support as they grow their businesses. Your first meeting is completely free, and I'd love to welcome you. Details and registration information can be found in the show notes.

  • TREAD TALKS: Success At What Cost?
Redefining What Business Success Really Means

We’ve been taught to measure success in business the same way we measure strength in the gym — bigger, heavier, more.

    More revenue.
    More clients.
    More growth.

But what happens when the numbers go up and your quality of life goes down?

In this episode, I’m challenging the idea that success is only valid if your business keeps scaling. Because bigger isn’t always better — and growth without alignment can quietly cost you your time, energy, health, and relationships.

Just like being able to deadlift 500 pounds doesn’t automatically mean you’re healthy, high revenue doesn’t automatically mean your business is working for you.

If your business is expanding but your life is shrinking, it’s worth asking: what exactly are we building?

    In This Episode:

    • Why revenue is not the only measure of success
    • The hidden cost of “always growing” as an entrepreneur
    • Why more money can still mean more stress and less freedom
    • How business owners lose quality of life while scaling
    • A healthier way to define success in your business

    Your One Tip:

    Define your own success metrics.

Not just revenue goals — but life goals too:

    • Time with family
    • Flexibility in your schedule
    • Energy levels
    • Rest and recovery
    • Number of hours you actually want to work

And remember: Staying steady is not failing. Sometimes maintaining is winning.
