I first started noticing James around 6 months ago on LinkedIn and he immediately caught my attention.  To convey your honest, sincere and well substantiated views and opinions on a LinkedIn platform where most consumers are at least 10 years older than you takes a lot of heart and guts and it's those exact traits that we need in our Golf industry. We need mavericks who view the game differently, who have new and interesting ideas on how to benefit the game, but who are also able to do so tactfully to help breakdown the cultural divides and conflicts that exist in the mass game. James does a fantastic job of this. In his position, James helps golf clubs acquire members and so is directly involved in the nuts and bolts of the industry. We discuss ideas on how to break down cultural barriers, how to make Golf more accessible, what stale smells linger in the game as well as some general back and forth as to why this game means so much to us both. An episode with a ton of value of players, clubs and whoever else with Golf on their mind. All opinions delivered on this episode are with the best intent behind them. We named this episode 'The Adventures of Lie + Loft' for good reason. Luke's journey in Golf has been nothing short of adventurous. We discuss Luke's rad introduction to the game at the tender age of 18 months on an airfield in Spain, his sporadic obsession with Golf, his introduction to the Golf industry, why and how he started Lie + Loft and of course, the epic 900 mile, 19 Golf Course Pacific North West Cycle, Golf and Camp trip. The latter being my personal favourite. Everything you need to know about Luke and L+L can be found in this story.  At its core, L+L is an experience focused brand aiming to merge Golf and home. The consumer is at the forefront of everything the team does and has led to an impressive display of products and services from prints to caps and now, Golf camping trips. Luke is such a genuine guy with an amazing brand and purpose and I think his story can serve as a reminder that we can all pursue our passions and create meaningful careers that stem for that pursuit. Ok, the Tour is off for now, but that won't stop us. We take a trip down memory lane as well as Magnolia Lane! We start off discussing the benefits of Golf in this adverse time and how we can use Golf to help us. We go deep on Jordan Speith, his highs and lows, special nature and debate whether we think he can get back to his old self. Sam then beautifully takes us to Augusta National in 1986 to remember that special win for Jack Nicklaus. He had been written off and started the tournament in average fashion and couldn't make a putt for love nor money. But the weekend brought the Golden Bear back out of hibernation and the rest was history. We loved recording this and hope we continue to bring nothing but value to you. Penmar Social Club. Wow. I have nothing but huge respect and admiration for what Garrett and the crew are creating.  A club totally dedicated to the Golfing experience. It was out of Penmar Golf Course in Venice Beach, California, where Penmar Social Club was born and calls home. They exist to collaborate and enjoy Golf however they see fit, constantly iterating on or altering what rules they play, how tournaments are structured etc with a good time for all being the goal always. Players of all abilities are able to come together, learn from one another and become a part of a supportive community. We then take a dive into Garrett's favourite ways to enjoy Golf and some memorable experiences he has had over the years. Keep up the inspiring an community driven work, man!
