Jonathan Creek is an award winning Investigative Journalist who after fourteen years in Mainstream TV. He prided himself on creating world class content for their audience. And during his final years in television, he started to become curious as to how he could have almost unlimited resources; travel anywhere in the world with a professional film crew and still not achieve the viral viewership a 14 year old kid with a smartphone or video camera could.
On top of that he was beginning to consider more deeply what he wanted from his life, realising he felt drawn to blazing his own trail, FORGING his own path so to speak and honour himself, and this line of self enquiry encouraged him to move on from mainstream TV and the whole industry and pursue his own path.
And so he explored this curiosity as any good investigative journalist would. Jonathan went on a mission to learn about the psychology behind what makes video content go viral and for the past decade his mission has turned into an obsession, in particular the science that occurs in the human brain to make people click that share button. A human response that drives billions of views every single day.
It is the basis of an algorithmic formula he developed known the Virable formula.
It measures the Spread factor in content, predicting how widely it will be shared.
Initially used as a Market research tool for companies to measure whether their videos were any good before release. Recently Jonathan reversed engineered the Virable formula to provide content makers a clear path and guideline on the type of unique narratives and videos they need to make to create an impact online.
Spread Factor exists in all viral content and Jonathan breaks it down in way that teaches anyone how to better understand their Viral DNA, the position they must occupy with their own story to be a success.
Jonathan has worked with many brands including AFL, 2XU, Sigma Healthcare, RAMS, Netball Australia, San Remo, Koko Black and even Ho Chi Minh City TV Vietnam plus many more.
Jonathan has recently released a book called: “Like, Comment, Share, Buy” which has received some amazing reviews and speaks more into the psychology of what makes someone click like, then comment, and even share….leading us to buy.
This interview will be insightful as we explore the human psyche around how we tick on a level that first piques interest and leads us on a journey towards taking out our credit card and making a purchase….
