The vote was 19-0 but the recommendation is not final and will go before the FDA to issue an official decision. On Monday, October 11th, Governor Greg Abbott of Texas issued an executive order that would block any vaccine mandates within his state, even for private businesses. Dr. Jerome Adams, 20th U.S. Surgeon General and Director of Health Equity Initiatives at Purdue University joins to discuss the nuances of COVID-19 vaccine mandates, a recent controversy within the Southwest Airlines pilots union over the vaccine mandates, and his belief the government should not restrict how employers keep their employees healthy. Later, he shares his optimism on the return to normalcy and how soon he expects a COVID-19 vaccine for children.
