The ground crunched, and she looked down to see the shattered remains of a glass bottle, and beneath that was a brown-red splash of blood that had her gagging and side-stepping off of it. Her boots clacked frantically as she tried to get away, but there was no getting away. The blood was everywhere. An ever-expansive river that had been boiled down to its most basic parts. 

Perhaps, if she hadn't been so horrified, she might have noticed the claw marks on the ground, but she didn't.

That's what her father's home was- a burnt-out parcel of coal and once-memories, with rugged pillars of pine sticking up from the ashes in a display of defiance. As if to say, no, we stand strong; we are undefeated. But it was defeated. God, it was. 

The remains of the once great Foxkey Manor had sunken into the earth. No breath, no hope, no life left in those hollow walls. It was now nothing more than a husk. Reduced to the raw remains of a foundation and walls—walls burnt to coal, coal burnt to ashes. 

Ashes to ashes.

Dust to dust.

"You wouldn't be pointing that weapon at me now, would you?" The snake asked, grey eyes watching Vera like one might a mouse. "Do ya think you'll get off a lucky shot?" She drawled, taking a bite of her apple and chewing loudly as she ambled closer.

Hunting. Waiting. 

It was enough to send a shiver down Vera's spine and a flush to her cheeks. A glint of curiosity turned up the corner of the stranger's mouth, revealing white teeth. The smile was overshadowed by the threat she represented. Her teeth looked…oddly sharp.

The year is 1874, and no children walk the cobbled streets of Murkwood, Texas. For going on two decades, they had been haunted and stolen into the night. Leaving behind nothing more than the sacrificial remains of their parents. The Sacrifice three. The blood of the Mother, the blood of the Father, and the Child. That is what was needed for them to become something cursed…a Whisper, lost on the wind. And with each loss, the town of Murkwood came closer and closer to the darkness hidden below. The lifeblood slowly draining from the town. Another sacrifice given to the unholy thing that is the Reverent Sun. 

Long-standing between the dark things of the world is the Clan, made up of Foxkeys and Walkers. People with the power to hold back the dark tide itself. They are the final shield standing between the demons of the West and humanity. 

Vera Fowley, once Vera Foxkey, was mother, widow, and homeless. What she most decidedly was not was a witch. Chased by the ghosts of her past from St.Louis into the wild west of Texas, she must face her family's legacy to save her daughter and, more importantly, the world from a whole new existence filled with demons and monsters. 

She must face the secrets of her past to discover the power within.

White and black. 

If only the world were so simple, but it isn’t. Montgomery Bernard was firmly and stoutly in the black, but that was not how he had always been. Before, well, before, he had been gray. Not bad, not good, just human. Now, Montgomery Bernard was definitely no longer human, and death followed in his wake, painting his trail in black so dark there was no seeing outside of it.

In this Episode of The Foxkey Chronicles: What Hides Beneath, Ezekiel Graves is a man who has fought many evils, but even he may have met his match when he and his comrade, Alex Foxkey, unleash a demon upon Roden, Eastern Tennessee. Not just any demon either, but the terrifying and monstrous creature called Burial, the Corpse Eater. As large as a mountain, and with a horde of long-dead soldiers, the beast would rise, and it would bring with it the end of man. Roden, Eastern Tennesse. A town hidden within the shadows of a mountain. A place even it’s own people would be pressured to find on a map. Land rich in hunting and forage, and most importantly gold. Sirus Foxkey had long ago given up thinking he would win his fight against the darkness hiding beneath Murkwood. To say he was failing was an understatement. It was a failure that could be remedied with one simple letter. A letter summoning his daughter, a Foxkey by birthright, from St.Louis and back to his small town.

He had sent her away for a reason, he loved her more than anything on this earth. Now he had to decide: call her back and save Murkwood, if not the world, or let her carry on living her life ignorant of what lay in the shadows, as she had been for all her life.
