Matt Lewis joins Full 90' for pt.2 about his financial journey through football!

Caden McLagan, my younger brother, joins the Full 90' to start a mini series about his trials and trainings in Iceland!

Caden currently has 1 year left of college in the US, but he is very interested in playing professionally/overseas after graduating. In order to increase his chances and see if he can make it, he has come to live with me in Iceland for a month.

In this episode, Caden introduces himself, we talk about his expectations, and we detail the difficulties and percentages of playing in college as well as professionally.

Matt Lewis joins The Full 90' to talk about his journey through football!

Matt discusses his youth days in Kansas City, playing multiple sports up until his teenage years when he decided to focus on football. After deciding to focus on footy, Matt joined the Sporting KC academy late. Despite only playing 2 years, Matt was able to sign a homegrown contract after a successful college career.

Matt enjoyed a successful college degree at Fordham University, making it to the Elite 8 in the NCAA tournament his senior year. After his success, Matt was invited to the MLS combine, but before he could attend, Sporting KC offered him a homegrown MLS contract! Matt spent the first few weeks with the MLS team before settling with the 2nd team in the USL.

After struggling to find consistent time in the USL, Matt made the choice to join The New York Cosmos who were planning to play in NISA. Matt spent a few years bouncing between the NY Cosmos and Detroit City FC before finding his way back to the USL where he currently plays.

Matt has also had a chance to play professional indoor soccer with the Kansas City Comets of the MASL in his offseason, we discuss how this has helped his football career!

Ena joins The Full 90' to talk about her financial career through football.

Ena Sabanagic joins the Full 90' Podcast to talk about her footballing journey!

From a first generation college student to representing the country that her parents immigrated from, Ena talks about the opportunities that football has afforded her.

After college, Ena knew she wanted to continue playing football at a professional level. Unfortunately, she graduated during covid and the opportunities were few and far between. Luckily she was able to train with the Chicago Red Stars until she got a call about a contract in Iceland.

Ena was only in Iceland for a short stint before being able to move on to her home country, Bosnia, where she was able to break into the national team and find a club contract. Now with Champions League and national caps on the resume, Ena found a new challenge in Turkey where her teammates and her will play for a league title this week!

Ena maintains the ambition and mentality to continue pursuing her career to the highest level, only being limited by her own imagination!

Jared joins to talk about his financial journey through football!

Jared details his first professional contract, which had no housing or wages included. Yes, a $0 professional contract in the US.

He then talks about moving abroad to Sweden where he played on a tourist visa, still paying a chunk from his own savings to live. Jared also details the facilities and club resources in Sweden compared to the US.

In this episode, Luke Stauffer joins The Full 90' Podcast to talk about his journey through football.

After a successful college career at Creighton, Luke was drafted by the Vancouver Whitecaps. Unfortunately after several weeks of training, days before the start of the season, Luke was released with little to no warning.

After feeling dejected and drained, Luke was nearly ready to give up on the dream until a coach reached out to him about a USL Championship opportunity. Luke then finished the season there and turned his sites towards Europe.

With no return ticket, Luke set off to Europe in pursuit of a contract. Several countries and trials later, he was finally rewarded with a contract in the 4th tier of Germany!

Luke had a very successful stint in Germany before returning to the USL for the 2023 season!

I hope you enjoy this one as it is a great example of how perseverance and the right mindset can take you far!
