The Players 選手

(1 Corinthians 9:24-25 NLT) Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! (25) All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.

(1 コリント 9:24-25 ALIVE訳)競走をする場合、すべての走者が走るが、優勝者は１人だけだ。だからこそ、みなさんも、優勝するように走るんだ。(25)競技の選手は、この世のメダルや優勝杯を得ようと、厳しいトレーニングに励む。しかし私たちは、神から与えられる、決して朽ちない栄光を受けるために、そうするのだ。

The Spectators 観客

(2 Samuel 6:14-16) And David danced before the Lord with all his might, wearing a priestly garment. (15) So David and all the people of Israel brought up the Ark of the Lord with shouts of joy and the blowing of rams’ horns. (16) But as the Ark of the Lord entered the City of David, Michal, the daughter of Saul, looked down from her window. When she saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, she was filled with contempt for him.

(2 Samuel 6:20-23) When David returned home to bless his own family, Michal, the daughter of Saul, came out to meet him. She said in disgust, “How distinguished the king of Israel looked today, shamelessly exposing himself to the servant girls like any vulgar person might do!” (21) David retorted to Michal, “I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me above your father and all his family! He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the Lord, so I celebrate before the Lord. (22) Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes! But those servant girls you mentioned will indeed think I am distinguished!” (23) So Michal, the daughter of Saul, remained childless throughout her entire life.

(2 サムエル 6:20-23 JCB)ダビデも、家族を祝福するために戻って行きました。ところが、ダビデを迎えに出たミカルは、うんざりした様子で言いました。「今日は、なんとまあごりっぱな王様ぶりでしたこと！道の真ん中、それも女たちの前で裸におなりになるなんて。」(21)「私は、おまえの父やその一族にまさって、神の民イスラエルの指導者として選んでいただいた主の前で踊ったのだ。その主の前で喜びを表すためなら、たとえ気がおかしくなったと言われてもかまわない。(22)いや、もっと愚か者のように思われてもよい。その女たちは、きっとわかって敬ってくれるだろう。」(23)このミカルは、生涯、子どもが与えられませんでした。

(Matthew 26:7-10) a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table. (8) When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. “Why this waste?” they asked. (9) “This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.” (10) Aware of this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me.
