He was cut, not once, but two times from his middle school basketball team. Not only that, his 8th grade year didn’t exactly go as planned either… But he kept pushing and believing in himself. 

Matthew Ilodigwe continued to put in the work and continued to show the coaches what he was capable of! He knew what he could do, but it came down to confidence and taking advantage of his opportunity. 

Matt, ended up making it to Lycoming College where he broke records and is making a statement as one of their players. 

In our interview today, you’re going to hear him chat about the ups and downs, and how to weather the storm and push through adversity! 

Matthew went onto play one more season after his time at Lycoming College. During his final season, it didn't go as planned. Matt had a hard time getting into the rotation and then getting playing time. It was disheartening considering all he had gone through. That didn't stop him though. 

In 2024, after Matt continued to work extremely hard, he found himself in The Basketball League playing professionally for the Rocket City Flight.

To go from not seeing the floor to then getting paid to play the game at a professional level, is nowhere short of amazing. It speaks to Matt's hard work and dedication that he continues to put in, day in and day out.

After false sexual assault allegations derailed him from his NFL dreams, Shawn Oakman is now making a comeback!!

Shawn knew he didn't do something wrong. And he remained true to his story and to himself throughout the whole process (which was not a short amount of time). In the end, the truth prevailed and now he's back to his football playing ways!

Brodarious Hamm had everything going for him!! His football career was set right there for him and he knew of what his future was going to entail. But in 2016, that all changed! 

A cancer diagnosis came about and flipped Hamm's life upside down. Instead of heading to college and competing in the SEC, he'd be fighting for his life!

For many of us, we live in a world where we truly have so many blessings and many of us don't see what's right in front of our eyes. Meanwhile, in many places of the world, we have children struggling on the streets. People like Cas Mastropaolo, who didn't ask for the life they were given, yet they were dealing with the life which they were provided. 

Cas Mastropaolo, was born in Haiti and early on in his life he became a child slave. While some of the details Cas has now forgotten, he still can tell you what he does remember, and it will bring you some perspective that many of us need. 

On this episode, you'll hear Cas tell us his story about how he learned to "Survive and Thrive." He was adopted by the Mastropaolo family and began his life when he was younger here in the United States. He began playing football some years later, and that's been a MAJOR part of his life, as today he is playing RB for his College!

Not everyone's journey to the collegiate world of sports is the same. You can be a great athlete in High School, but sometimes, you may not get the looks you feel you should get. And that means, your journey may be a tad different. 

For DaWud Shorts, who recently was seen on a viral video which you can see here,  was well known by those who paid attention to Football WAY BEFORE that video ever was present. But see, he didn't get himself a scholarship right out of high school, so he had to walk-on and pay his way through college, WHILE PLAYING FOOTBALL!! 

What many will never understand, is just how hard this truly is for any athlete, to be able to compete at the collegiate level, go to school, AND work a job to save up money!

Josh Burns first started fighting around the age of 5 when he got into the boxing ring. Now at 43, he's still going strong, but this time, it's a tad different sport. He's a Heavyweight in the BKFC and he's doing damage in this sport! 

From boxing, to MMA to now Bareknuckle Fighting, Josh isn't new to the fight game and all that comes with it. Which is what makes him so dangerous!
