The Deep End - A Study in Romans Episode Two: Judgement, Repentance, and Conscience

How do you genuinely change someone's mind? Maybe we could argue someone into submission. What if we yelled at them? What if we gave them the silent treatment until they realized they were wrong? There's a number of different ways that we try to change someone's mind or behavior. But do those theories actually work when applied to other people? Do they work when you apply it to yourself? In today's episode we process how God helps humans analyze themselves and come to repentance which is a changing of the heart. Through this lesson you will learn more about how God helps you change and you will also learn how to give that gift of change to other people.

Wrath and the Wicked

The bible makes a distinction between easy to consume ideas and difficult or complex ideas. It calls them spiritual milk and spiritual solid food. Some passages of scripture contain milk and then there's Romans. It is a prime cut of steak surrounded by all your favorite fixings. It is Paul's doctoral work on salvation and christian living and it is not easy stuff. We are going to spend the next few months diving deep, hence the name, into this incredible book to develop for ourselves a deep understanding of righteousness and salvation.

Topics will include:

- What is wickedness

- What is required for true salvation

- Who are the true Jews and what do we do with Israel

- How do I live out my faith

- What does it look like to live on mission.

In this episode, Paul discusses what real wickedness is and how to spot it. He explains that there are steps to rebellion and we need to be aware of how ignorance of God affects us. He pulls no punches as he describes how God interacts with rebellious people in a form of punishment he calls wrath.
