We are in a sermon series from the Gosepl of Luke. In Luke 9, we've already seen Jesus call his disciples, we've seen Jesus as the hope for his disciples; next we will see the commissioning of his disciples. But before we get to that: we must understand the cost.

What good things distract you from following Jesus? This morning we examing the cost of discipleship as Jesus calls his followers to lose all and follow him.

This morning we look at a number of passages woven together under a central theme: the deficiency and failure of the disciples. After Jesus appears in his glory, Luke turns the corner and focuses the reader's attention on the utter inability of the disciples.

Join us as we humbly admit: we too, on our own are utterly unable. We are, however, encouraged. In spite of our deficiencies and inabilities, Jesus chooses to use us and fill us with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Happy Mother's Day! One reason we love our mothers is because a mother is a God-given source of comfort. We live in a world of trouble -- everyone needs to be comforted. As we think of our mothers and praise God for them, let's pause and consider how God cares for us. In Isaiah 66, God's people are in need of comfort. In the same way a mother brings comfort to her children, God promises to bring comfort to his children.

You will face temptation in this life. Where will you turn when you do? How will you fight for holiness? If you fall, can you pull yourself back up? Or do you need something ... someone ... outside of yourself to raise you up.

The Lord Lives! On that Sunday morning, two thousand years ago, Jesus got up from the grave. Death could not keep him. This morning we explore Jesus' authority over all things. He has authority over nature, over the spirutal world, over disease and over death. If the power of His Word is enough to calm the waves and raise the dead, he has the power to save you.
