Pastor Kenny Green's  Future Ready message revolves around our continuing growth in God as we respond to him.  God wants to speak to us to the heart, and loving us as he does he meets us where we are.  For our good he instructs that we listen to his wisdom with interest and intent (Deuteronomy 6:6-9).   Yet, to hear him rightly, we need to be aware of our posture towards him and our attitude towards the world.  What do the rhythms and habits of our lives say about us?  Our priorities show plainly where our thoughts, desires, and affections are focused (Matthew 6:21).  To hear God speak to us fully as individuals, we need to attend to him with all our heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:36-38).  To receive his instruction, he teaches us to love him by loving others - they are inseperable (Matthew 22:39).  

Kenny encourages us to consider how our lives reflect our love for God and one another, but not to then try to revise all our priorities and actions.  Instead, we should begin with workable changes that are open to revision.  We are reminded not to categorize our love for God by trying to direct ourselves with rules.  We are called rather to live for Christ in the freedom of his peace.  We can walk with our focus on Jesus as the means of growing in God, as a flowering vine climbs a trellis.  Giving ourselves room for adjustment, we can comfortably start small.  We should be specific, strike a healthy balance of structure and spontaneity, and seek progress with patience for ourselves.  God's love for us assures us that we should never allow setbacks in these areas to be a source of shame, as this is from the enemy.  In Christ there is no condemnation, and God is faithful to forgive (Romans 8:1, 1John 1:9).  Following Christ in the here and now, we are ready for the future!
