We are called to be set-apart and distinctive from the world and at the same time visible and engaged within the world. How can we remain faithful in a hostile, unbelieving world?

God calls us to be heirs of his blessing. That calling commits us to a life of blessing others. 1 Peter 3:8-12

The cross is the shape of our hope. It is on the cross where Jesus most clearly reveals God’s heart and love for humanity; and it is on the cross where Jesus shows us a radically new way to live.

What we know about exile from the ancient Israelites is that one of the most painful things about it was the destruction of and the separation from the Temple. The Temple was not only the place of sacrifice; it was believed to be the unique dwelling of God on earth; the place where heaven and earth meet.

Life on this planet has a way of robbing our hope. When people lose hope they lose their ability to dream for the future. Despair replaces joy. Fear replaces faith. Anxiety replaces prayer. Insecurity replaces confidence. But genuine hope produces inner strength, creativity and the confidence that with God anything is possible.

This weekend we explored the power of hope and desire in our lives. Whether for good or for evil, desire is what drives everything we do.
