To be born again means not that you just turn over a new leaf or you just change in one area of your life. It means every part of your life becomes new. It means a revolution in every part of your life. To be born again means you become new in your mind, in your heart, and in your behavior.

Who am I? What is my place? Why am I here? These are the questions that shape choices, values, actions, and relationships in a person’s life. But the answers to these three questions are fuzzy unless we know how to ask three more. Who is God? What is the Church? Why was Jesus here? By learning to view the world and ourselves through the lens of these three core questions, we’re able to have clarity and understanding about the first three too. In knowing God, we discover our identity. In experiencing the life of the Church, we find belonging. In following Jesus, we’re given mission.

The Church’s central mission involves not only reaching the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ, but passing on the faith to the next generation. And yet research shows that 40-50% of students from good youth groups and families will drift from God and the church after high school. The solution is not in more constructing more elaborate youth centers or making worship more “cool” but in modeling the kind of mature, passionate faith we say we want young people to have. Ultimately, the church’s most credible form of witness to our children and to our world will be a living, breathing, visible communities of faith - a countercultural social structure called the Church. Together our goal is to see kids come to know who Christ is, experience how He works in their life, and integrate them as important and valuable people in the life of the church.

We have entered into the reality of the kingdom of Christ through faith and baptism, and we are called to come “back from the future” to show the people of this present age what is to come, where this is headed, what the future holds, and to invite them to join us.

The normal course of life locks us into patterns of feeling, thought, and action that are geared in a world set against God. A life of solitude helps me combat the distractions from the busyness of life. It helps me to get over my information addiction and allows time and space for the development of freedom in Christ.
