Fear tends to make us skeptical, selfish, stubborn and shortsighted. In the story of the closing of the Red Sea we see three things the Israelites did to face their fears: let go, look up to God and launch out in faith.

Through it they engaged the primary questions of life — who is God? who were they? what were they meant to be doing? By immersing ourselves in this ancient story we discover a God who not only rescues and saves, but a God who calls and indwells his people so that we might become a blessing to the entire world.

Luke is the only place in the Bible where you have an account of Jesus as a boy. It is unique, it is fascinating, and it is confusing. From it we learn that Jesus Christ is confusing, but we’re supposed to trust him anyway.
