The easiest thing to do when we've been wronged is to throw a stone. But God, being rich in mercy, has another idea about what we can do with the stones in our hands...drop them!

Perhaps the most painful lessons we can learn from the Party of Twelve come from the life of the one member who left the party early: Judas Iscariot. In today's anger-filled and divisive culture, it's easy to forget that Jesus once brought together a rag-tag bunch of men who would never have been together if it hadn't been for the King. As our country prepares for an election and we see fighting between two parties, it's a good time to take a look at the original party - a Party of Twelve - and remember that who we have in common is more powerful than what we don't.

Most people take their devices to an authorized dealer for repairs because nobody knows the device like the one who made it. According to Psalms 139:13-15, we should do the same with our lives when they're broken. Things make more sense when we look to The Maker.

In Exodus 13:17-18, we find the people of God leaving Egypt looking like an army but not prepared to be an army. As a result, God had to take them on a longer journey to keep them in training so that they would be ready for the battles that would come when they entered the Promised Land. He's doing the same for the church today. It's not enough to look the part; we've got to be ready to play the part.
